And even after his statement to the fans we've seen little with regards it going into the player budget.

I beg to differ that it always the guy at the top who is the fall guy. Had he being prepared to pay better salaries he would have been able to recruit better quality and experienced staff, should have had targets to monitor performance and had more communication with the fans about progress or lack of it. After Rahic it has just been a case of keeping the club ticking using the minimal amount of his fortune over to protect the asset. The fans with the number of season tickets sold have helped him keep is outlay to a minimum.

Spot on. I've used this analogy before, but when a company like Morisons is failing you don't change the shelf stackers. There is a lack of accountability towards the upper management of this club from some fans, I suppose it's easier t just blame what you can see i.e. the players or manager. Funny how over 200 players and 10 managers have all wielded the exact same results.

Just take a look at Wrexham and Stockport. Both clubs with owners wanting to climb the leagues and willing to support the whole club to achieve this, both on and off the pitch. Unless your owner has this vision (and the funds), then anything is possible. As has been said many, many times before, our owner just doesn't have enough interest in the sport to risk anymore than the bare minium to protect his asset.

I agree but how much in debt are Wrexham and Stockport? Would be keen to know and to see what real investment in players is actually required to get out of this league because so far I am not seeing any real investment in the squad.

I suppose you have to be willing to lose short term in order to win big. At some point, in order to move forward, a substantial amount of investment is needed just to get out of the league above. If that isn't the owners intention, then we better get used to bobbing between this league and league 1, before eventually ending up in the national league or worse. Wrexham in particular are riding the crest of a wave and will no doubt sell up to a corporate investment bank in America.

You literally have more chance of winning the lottery than getting an ambitious owner at Bradford. The rugby team suffer the same to a lesser degree, its like Bradford is cursed. Ironic that Wrexham fans complaining about the spending power of Birmingham when they spent a kings ransom in the national league and league 2. But then what i wouldn't give to have that kind of ownership that both clubs now have.

I suppose we’ll just have to accept our fate and enjoy the odd unbeaten run and 4th round FA cup game then….

totally agree. bloody idiot that bloke was. I remember reports that they started training a certain way when Rahic turned up at Apperley Bridge, but soon as his back was turned they resorted back to Stuart's proper way :joy:

I watched the Birmingham/Wrexham game where both Wrexham owners were present, watching that game they will now have a better understanding of what is required to get Wrexham to the Championship, The truth about Birmingham City's summer spending, Jay Stansfield fee & the big P&S boost - Birmingham Live (birminghammail.co.uk) the two Wrexham owners may be wealthy compared to the likes of Rupp but not in same league as Tom Wagner and Tom Brady, some reports have suggested Birmingham City spent in excess of £30m during the summer transfer window.

Stansfield was £10-15 million (I think 10 is more likely) which is completely ludicrous for L1.

But let's be honest, we've wasted our chances of being a yo-yo team between L1 and the Championship. We'd have to already be established at that level, but here we are pissing around in L2 while the money in League One gets ever more insane.

    We're getting left behind.

    Again.

First the Premier League was out of realistic reach.
Then the top 6 of the Championship.
Then the top 15 of the Championship.
Now I doubt we'll reach the Championship any time soon, and if we do, we won't compete.
Soon, the top 6 in L1 will be well beyond us.

Just posting what the local media was saying, they had him all last season on loan from Fulham where he scored 12 goals but in a poor team, I'd think Fulham knew they would be sold to Wagner and Brady hence the figure being quoted, so if he is a part of getting Birmingham back into the Championship they'll be more than happy with the signing.
I believe your correct unless we get that sort of owner in we won't make the Championship never mind a team that can compete in the top half of the Championship.

I blame Geoffrey Richmond or summat.

If only we'd have stayed in the third tier and never done anything.
