Draw them in and lesve 2 pacey players up top on halfway line. One central one out wide and this will keep at least 3 players going forward. Sadly we only have one forward with pace and he was taken off. Thought today the central midfield 2 looked tired and a bit lifeless and most of our problems stemmed from that. A change of formation would hsve helped them cope.

 

He doesn't fit our favoured formation, Alexander tends to favour big athletic types like Jackson and Wheatley.

 

So you'd tend to think what was the thought process of signing him.
Bet we're paying a decent chunk of his wages too.

Poor performance today. Not sure what causes these matches where we don’t do what we have done previously. Could be mental tiredness rather than physical. I thought GA picked the right team, Both Sarce and Pointon have personal issues going on which will be effecting them, yes I am sure they wanted to play, but were they mentally fit?

We just have to get over it and move onto Tuesday.

 

Before the match Caldwell said he had watched City 3 times and played against them once as Exeter manager.
Listening to the commentary and looking at the posession stats he obviously told his team to let City have the ball and hit them on the break.
As this squad is used to playing that way themselves they were unable to solve the problem and as a result the link between defenders and attackers was broken.
I might be totally wrong in my assumption but I' m sure those who were at the game will put me straight.

 

It does seem a strange signing given with how we play. I don't think it that Mullin is a bad player although his better day are well behind him but Alexander all this season has favoured a player you would term a natural goal scorer in the 9 role, you would claim either of Humphrys, Jackson, Wheatley are nowhere near prolific.

 

Said it before about Mullin, you signed the wrong Wrexham loanee

 

Do other teams not get tired or is it just City? Mansfield played Sat-Tue-Sat so thats a shitty excuse.

 

We'd have a better chance of beating Mansfield Tuesday night if we had rested some of our key players. That is the only point I'm making.

 

Wednesday night was our first away win in 2 months. Our best chance of making it back to back away wins for the first time this season was to stick with the same team. Just because we didn't win doesn't mean it was the wrong decision.

 

Fair shout … Such issues they are facing have a massive impact on concentration for sure .

Crap day at the office folk can alude to GAs tactics but if players dont turn up then what can you do ??????

Never bought into this players "are tired" myth
These guys are trained young (ISH) athletes in prime fitness
Every other club has games Tues/Sat/Tues are their players tired too
Surely a tweak in training routines would sort that out, maybe light training with an emphasis on talking tactics would help
You can bet your bottom dollar Lincoln and Cardiff players aren't tired
Strange how this "tiredness" doesn't apply to home games
