When he gets the ball down at his feet he has good bits of link up play, the problem is that often the ball is played into aerial duel where he's still got a lot of learning but at least he is always challenging the defender so they never have a free header. I think as well he gets frustrated easily when experienced defenders know how to use their body and know they will normally get away with a bit of holding and pulling.

I think some people have made their mind up about him already and so only see the negatives, there was 1 person by me on Saturday after 4 minutes was shouting at Wheatley to get involved and get stuck in.

Confidence is huge for any player and in young players is even more so, we see often players get a goal or 2 and then they look a totally different player

 

Not a great start here, just punting it long and hoping for the best isn't going to work.
