    That's probably a better way of putting what I was trying to say. The laws are not black and white and discretion is allowed within them like to how players often get away with a bit more in the first 10 minutes as refs want to avoid early yellow cards if they can

    But do you not think the fact that Baldwin had clearly already cleared the ball cleanly before the attacker’s later lunge took him into Baldwin should be a factor in the decision? The collision only happened because O’Neill dived in late for a ball that he had little chance of winning. Baldwin was always getting there first.
