So not going all out for promotion then. Dont forget that at the start of the window we were in a good position for automatic promotion.

 

It's going to be difficult to reinforce a team and then expect improvements without committing to any of the players.

Not one of them has had a run of games.

Not sure if it's a recruitment issue or a GA issue. Given the options he's been given up front, that particular department seems to be all down to GA, though.

 

Burton Wimbledon Doncaster in fact for most part of the season there has been no easy games. We have done well especially at home but we are a league up after six years and no game will be easy

 

The reason is Lincoln and Cardiff are better than us

 

Nope they are super tough i know the entire football world can see Vale are poor but in reality then are very good same as Orient bog standard form but Park will have them down as being amazing.

You would think he would give up big upping these teams after making out Peterborough where a good teamin form when in reality they where simply woefull

Your telling me on new years day that you could tell us all that both clubs would romp away from us ????

Mate you can sugercoat it all you want make out EVERY team we play are amazing and thats the reason of our huge downward turn in form ............when in reality when the squad needed a big boost the club failed to get anyone of note in when it mattered.............and sorry if we do fall out of the play offs then serious questions need to be answered ............and if Thursday looks like the start of next years season ticket campaign then they should think themselves lucky if the numbers are high again judging on the lack of ambition in the last window.

I believe at start of Jan we were 2 points behind Lincoln with a game in hand

 

What does being a "league up" have to do with it? All last season you told us that every game was incredibly tough too.

Rinse, recycle, repeat.

 

Don't think he is bigging up teams but he has followed City for many years and can remember many many examples of these poor teams doing us over. I(and no doubt other people) can think of many examples but to show just how bad it can be, I will cite one year Stockport were relegated, way adrift of everyone. They had hardly any points but six of them came from us.

 

Burton have 3 players that will get into any team in the division.

 

That's fine but why then, when we went away to Cardiff and turned them over didn't we say they're a poor team?

Not all teams can be great and not all teams can be "a really tough game" otherwise we might aswell stop comparing and debating and pretend every game is the same.

 

We were om a par with Lincoln at the turn of the year though. That 2nd spot was well within our grasp with the right recruitment, unfortunately GA didnt get his preferred targets.

 

“Favourable” absolutely , a “ given” 6 points like some try and claim is nonsense .
Last weekend Stockport had a favourable game at Burton , Hudds had a favourable game at Wigan …..

Who were his preferred targets ? Are you saying yet again.. city were panic signing in the window ?

 

The success of the signings we did make would suggest they were indeed panic signings.

 

Well, none have had a proper run in the side.. this rotation bs GA keeps doing every game does not help, the players need to get to know one another in a competitive match, training is very different to an actual competitive match..

 

Do .you believe we have the fifth best squad in league one? Do you believe Lincoln have the second best.we were massively overachieving early on. Not sure if it’s still the same but we were doing better than any of the other promoted teams in all the leagues after just managing to scrape promotion.Its flattened out now and I don’t believe we are in a position to say any game is easy

 

Overachieving or not, we were where we were at the start of Jan. To refer back to @AngryGaz original post, rose tinted specs maybe, but I wasn't expecting Lincoln to romp away from us, I was expecting to overtake them. I still think we will make the play offs and then anything can happen. But if we don't go up, I don't want to see us languishing mid-table come Jan 27 and regretting not grasping the opportunity we had. Now maybe we just couldn't get the players we wanted, or at the price we considered acceptable. I just don't want to end up regretting the missed chance we had to push on, by not significantly improving our overachieving squad who had got us within reach of the autos
