Yes whilst I think it was a poor decision as the covering defender and distance from goal introduces sufficient doubt, it's one of those where probably 2 or 3 times out of 10 you will see a red.
It will never therefore be overturned imo. The referees overall performance though should come under scrutiny as he was the worst I've seen for some time and that's saying something!

 

For me I think he's just offside. Mellon's foot is either slightly offside or level with the defender behind him but he's leaning slightly towards goal whereas the defender is more up right so if the foot isn't offside the lean it likely to be.

Not heard the MOTM award but there were some outstanding performances this afternoon to say we were down to 10 men for almost 80 minutes of the game and I thought over all we created the better chances, got to be please with that performance and result.
Had to smile when the Welsh commentators were saying Smallwood has played every minutes of our league games this season thats some achievement for a 34 year old in the position he plays.

 

The more I see it the more it's never a red yes shephard is wrong side of their player but they're side by side and Huntington in line so their player would have been wide of the area anyway

 

Technique wise I can see why Adaramola got some negative comments from fans of Stockport but he's certainly an athlete.

Did well today and I'm sure he'll be happy with that start

 

To get the red so early and play without Patto, we’ll consider a draw a decent result in the circumstances.

leigh and mellon should not be in front of jamie walker on what they’re ‘producing’.

 

I thought Mellon had a good game and Leigh did OK I like Walker but he isn’t quite the same player this season which is a real pity

 

He did. I like Walker too but once Mellon has got a bit more match sharpness, he'll offer us far more than Walker can upfront.

 

I hate to resort to personal insults, but the big-nosed tw#t should have been carded. The tackle was only just the right side of borderline too

 

I thought they both had good games today and warranted a start.

 

Another game in which we salvaged a point when last season we have definitely come away with nowt. I'm never happy with a 0-0, I'd rather we were scoring goals but cautiously, I feel like we are heading the right way.

 

If he was infront of his but he was slightly behind Shep , it seems a very harsh red card to me.

 

He looks more offside because of how his body is leaning. His feet and the defenders are almost in line.

 

The thing for me is that he wasn't going to be able to shoot. The ball was too far ahead of him. Walker would have cleared it or at worst tackled him. The ref needed to take that into account

 

How many yellows is that for Sam Walker now? Must be at least 3

 

Didn't see the game. Mixed comments on Mellon's performance although most said he did well and GA said he never put a foot wrong.

 

Too many and there really is no need most of the times.......
