In his defence, out of all of our attackers today, he looked the most competent and the biggest threat. Probably should of been kept on in hindsight

 

If we are going to get the best from Beesley he needs a number10 to work with him. He is not a typical CF. Jackson is not that player but maybe Sarcs or Bobby is. Players who can pass and move and create space for him. The warning signs are there when our goals have been scored by CB and the forwards not scoring.

 

I am certain you're on your own in saying Beesley "doesn't seem to have the basic skills of a footballer.".

Agree watching the game I thought keep it to 0 - 0 till half time Alexander has a word and may be a change or two and we go again but if you are going to concede just before and just after they are the goals that can dictate games, to lose that second goal the way we did we a real downer, I couldn't understand why Radio Leeds thought we were still in the game, I'm always optimistic about my team but when the second went in we had no one who could hold the ball to change the game.
After watching Cleverley's pre-match interview I knew he'd have Plymouth up for it as he described exactly what we are as a team, and what we do so well he certainly did his home work, onto Tuesday night and 3 points, then Cloughy and his men next Saturday.

 

Imo we are badly missing Tyreik Wright and need Humphrys back as an alternative to Swan or Pointon.
Wasn't it him who made the difference against Plymouth last season both home and away?
But that's just from this game in isolation.
Tuesday this squad as it stands should have too much for Cambridge and I expect a response as we've seen over the last nearly 3 seasons, once we lose we very rarely lose the next.
I'm very confident with a few additional players coming in this week that 6 points over this next week will see us in a great spot going into a tough mid to end of September.

 

The beauty of the forum is its platform for debate, and everyone is entitled to a point of view. However I’m finding the swing of opinions and some of the quite frankly ludicrous statements on here after today, simply baffling. Guess that’s what keeps us all logging back in and entertained

Agree Idle, Cook is L2 but I think that the fans comparing Beesley to Cook are saying that Cook gets in there amongst defenders and makes the effort to get to the ball, either by head or foot and in general is a pain for defenders.
Beesley?????? Doesn't seem to have that "this ball is mine and I'm going to get on the end of it" attitude and rarely makes that extra effort to get a foot or head onto it.
Hopefully, in time he will (or might) else we will be saying that he too is a L2 striker.

 

Agree on both points yes it doesn't take a lot to get the doom mongers out saying were not good enough although as you say everyone is entitled totheir opinion.

It's my opinion based on what I've seen so far. Perhaps I should have added 'at this level'. So far in his career he's moved quite a bit between mainly non-league and league 2 with some time in league 1. That isn't the career path of someone who's going to be a game-changer for us. It's interesting that his game time has steadily got shorter and that Powell is coming on sooner. I've nothing against him but his basic ability doesn't seem to me to be good enough for what we need.

 

I'm letting this go as a one off purely for the win against Burnley last Wednesday. I think physically and emotionally it drained us. Along with the long travel down to Plymouth I can excuse this one!

 

That's the one positive we can take from today. At least the longest away trip of the season is over and done with.

As much as I’m defending them for today, it did cross my mind if I’ll be as forgiving if we get much of the same on Tuesday.

GA seemed very clear where and how we lost that game today. I’d be really surprised if we were that bad again come Tuesday.

 

3 points from Wednesday and Plymouth is a good return.

If we'd have got two draws and remained unbeaten everyone would have been delighted. Look at the bigger picture. 1.5 ppg returned from two difficult away games is a good pick up.

 

Oh God, please tell me we're not at the stage where Humphrys is getting better and better with every game he doesn't play...

He's painfully average most of the time.

 

Agree to a 95% point. My worry is going from 2 performances with some nice give and take with promise on the back end. But realistically we didn't lay a glove on Plymouth.

My fear is that these lot can't break a setup drawn outside of a hoof to the box.

 

A bit like Jackson, Phillips and Bobby then.

 

He did a good job for us last season. I haven't got the figures in front of me but whenever we scored he seemed to be a contributory factor in the chance. He provided plenty of threat even when not playing in his favoured position. I rate him and I know that if he starts as a left forward we'll be far more potent than we are currently.
