Blah blah Lincoln are good at what they do as they’ve been in this division 5 seasons.

Blah blah Huddersfield are good at what they do as they’ve spent more than us.

Blah blah we miss Sarce and Swan.

    Repeat to fade…..

I don’t disagree entirely, however suggesting our owner wouldn’t want us promoted is a little fancical. Whether it would truely result in long term benefit for the club or not can be debated - with truth never actually know unless it happens. But given the on field output of his ownership so far, I find it nonsensical to suggest our owner would active not want us to get promoted.

That said, the transfer activity in this window so far wildly confuses me. With no replacement of real quality shown so far (I hold hope for Sibley) and very little experience, I’m dumbfound how the players we have released have been done so without at least 1-2 guaranteed incomings before the Huddersfield game. I don’t disagree with any of the outgoings, but to not replace them is surely down to
    A. Delayed or Losing out on targets we were confident on.
    B. Poor planning and management of the window

Yeah like Swan and Sarce were really ripping up trees having to chase balls like excitable dogs cos the managers tactics don't go any further than that.

    Spot on Rog.

it cant have taken much work to pinpoint these loan lads. We employ Gent and Sharpe to assist with recruitment? Wft are they doing from when the summer transfer closes to January opening?

as the jan window draws closer to ending we pay more for players as desperation sets in….and we needed them in on Jan 1st to help us through a tough run of games anyway.

we’ve lost all momentum now :-(

Do you believe that he would be willing to underwrite the club's losses in Div 1 as every other owner has to do? I don't. I've put a table somewhere on another thread which shows the losses of every Championship club which would have to be financed to become established in the Championship. He is reasonably wealthy but couldn't sustain those losses for very long.

Had he been considering promotion this season, we were in a very good position to achieve it. With a small investment in this transfer window, the club could probably have improved the quality of the squad sufficient to maintain a promotion push. But the money hasn't been provided or sanctioned by the owner. What would you put that down to?

Edit - this is the post I was referring to ...

Something definitely wrong In the camp but we have played 3 top teams in a row and these results can happen.
Forget top 2, that was always fantasy in any city fans eyes
We have to bounce back on Saturday against a poor team and put these behind us
Let’s not throw away an over achieved play off spot

What’s happened is we have lost CHARACTERS in the dressing room in a short period. Cook, Brad and Patto. Big influences. Yes, maybe the right call to let Cook go but to lose all 3 is going to hurt the club. What you have to do is replace them with other leaders and we haven’t done that.

People look at Liverpool’s drop off well they lost Jotta (sad situation), Trent, Nunez,,Diaz, Elliott - all big characters in the dressing room for different reasons and replaced them with players mainly getting to know the league or younger players.

Power is struggling right now, like he needs s rest, Pointon been poor, Kav isn’t good enough, we don’t have a 9. By Saturday we need a signing or two big big character signings or we could see our season disappear in s few weeks.

Hard to excuse the last few performances even if it is a tough run on paper. Alexander won’t say it in the media but he must be frustrated he’s not been backed to push us on. Gets us in an automatic promotion fight and is rewarded with this appalling transfer window. I just hope he stays and we have another strong summer like last year because I’m giving up on any promotion race this season.
Let’s hope they’ve got something lined up and we can avoid our usual banana skin in Doncaster this weekend

Thing is, that poor team has scored 6 goals in 2 games and is our bogey team. Not as easy as one might think.

I’m not sure where this has come from that those 3 are big influences in the changing rooms. I certainly can’t imagine how someone like Cook would be a positive influence on the squad when he’s not even making the bench. Halliday was a good servant but certainly not a big personality. Pattison who knows but he didn’t stay fit enough to be much of an influence and rightly had his spot taken. I think the problem is what we have / haven’t brought in to replace them

I don’t want this to be siloed Kavanagh bashing, But 12 months on and we’re again in a position where he is our back up striker. This is a recruitment failure IMO. They’ve got credit for some wonderful recent transfer windows, but this window needs some serious action in the coming days.

No probably not - but I think he would be hungry to use it as a catalyst to sell up and enjoy a decent return on his investment.

You really think we will win on Saturday against one of our bogey teams? No chance.
