Joe White was poor on Saturday but he was excellent on loan at MKD in league 2 last year and there is a player in there somewhere and he can probe he’s up to L1. Hopefully he shows it sharpish but rotting on the Orient bench can’t have done his confidence any good.

 

I didn't watch the game. I manage an Under 11's team and we play Saturday mornings and we didn't kick off until 11.40. By the time i'd packed up and got home it was half time. I got home intending to put it on the box, but saw the stats. 0 chances, 1 shot. 39% posession. Couldn't face it.

I do always feel like if we go behind in games we won't pull it back. I don't think we create enough and what little scraps we do, they're high crosses to no target man.

We're in a great position and the team and manager deserve credit. Let's not now waste it, we need two/three players in to replace the players we have let go. Characters and experience.

We need a 10, a 9 and probably another CDM. I'd rather have an out an out CDM and play Metcalfe and Power a bit further forward. Power at the minute is doing a Smallwood impression, but without the shithousing.

 

The you tube videos I've seen show him as an attacking midfielder with a range of skills in passing and shooting. Hopefully he'll improve, if his confidence isn't shot already.

Yes that’s because their fullbacks / stood on the halfway line hemming them in . That is what Manning obviously spotted pre game . Compress our wingbacks by playing theirs far higher up the pitch. Our outlet thus disappears .

 

Agreed. If thats the case then we need attack minded players that break from midfield, like Pattison did….yet we play two enforcers in Power and Metcalfe. Do we need to switch our formation in such situations? Play three in middle and then two up top?

Power needs to stop dropping deep into defence. Instead move the midfield 10/15 yards higher up the pitch.
We also need to push our wingbacks higher and be more assertive in 1 v 1s.

Yes, I’d like to see us switch to 3-5-2/3-4-1-2 which becomes 5-3-2 when defending).
Sarcevic, Pointon, Sibley, Leigh and White are all passers who are suited to playing in the 10 role ahead of Power and Metcalfe. It would give us some creativity from central midfield instead of totally relying on creating from out wide, which other teams have been nullifying for ages now. Swan, in particular, would benefit from someone threading balls through channels for him to run onto off the shoulder of the last defender. And all five of those players can strike a ball from the edge of the box, giving us another goal threat from there, additional to Metcalfe. It would also help prevent our midfield being outnumbered and overrun, as has happened far too often recently.

Not true imo. I think there were at least half a dozen balls into great areas but as always, if no one is there to attack them they can just look like hopeful lumps into the box.

The quality of our crossing has been poor for quite a while, even with the Cookie Monster leaping like a salmon

 

There must have been half a dozen at the end at least….. we won several corners. 1-0 down, though, and Max Power still took a short one to Tyreik. Useless!

 

Power’s delivery has certainly worsened as the season has progressed

 

ironically the two best balls into the box were from out wide by our striker who likes to play out wide. however unfortunately there was no one in the middle to turn the ball into the goal because our striker who likes to play out wide was out wide playing the ball in towards a striker who wasnt there.

 

Arnt we about fourth in the league form set piece goals? Am I dreaming ?
