The Voice - Match preview #26: Bradford City vs Walsall Saturday 25th January 12:30pm

Now't as funny as women during our courting days our lass went everywhere with me watching football, Wembley, Hampden Park , Exeter, Torquay, Plymouth, Darlington the night we won promotion and all of a sudden she gets a ring on her finger and she loses interest .

 

I wont take our lass Dave, it used to cost me a fortune, she wants lots to eat and wash it down with Brandy, which meant i could not have a drink either, as she would never drive. Much better now with my lad , who drives every time and does not drink alcohol.

 

Same here Dave, one of our first dates was a West Riding cup tie against Halifax that she really wanted to go to. Went often up to getting married, then only time she’s been was when our son and then years later our Grandson was mascot.

 

Play Vidaine then?

 

Different for me Dave, I went with our lass as she was already a season ticket holder. Sadly she passed away just before Christmas 2020 but that got me hooked and here I am 50 years later.

 

I was looking through some old photos and found one of me with my then girlfriend, her uncle and aunt and Bobby Kennedy's wife Barbara, having just got of a coach outside Walsall's old ground. John Middleton's girlfriend used to run a coach to the occasional game for player's wives. You should see the flares, happy days.

 

Vadaine Oliver is no James Hanson .

 

Not yet, big V has been nowhere near a 56 game run without a goal. It's clearly much harder than you'd think.

 

I know attendance means sod all, we are a massive example of that. But I'm surprised Walsall have only sold 780 tickets for Satrudays game. Top of the league, you'd expect a packed following usually. Maybe they are that bad to watch?

i had a quick scan on our ticket site.
Not as many sold as i thought there would be currently, hopefully picks up by Saturday.
If we can not get excited by the runaway league leaders coming to town and city with the chance of climbing in to those play off places and in decent form, i am not sure what will wet the sporting public's appetite.
After all according to a certain poster, there is f all else to do in Bradford

 

There's nothing. Everyone is escaping Bradford for at least the day, hence the list then expected crowd.

 

Too many false dawns I’m afraid. It’s what we’ve become used to. Maybe if we beat Walsall on Saturday people just might start believing.

 

Whatever the result, we will be back down to around 10000 against deluded Derek on Tuesday.
I actually think we will struggle more in this game than Saturday's

 

I guess being it is mid-January, the game is on the telly and a lunchtime kick off are all reasons for not going on Saturday.

 

Certainly won't help
2 broken legs , i would still try and find a way of getting there.
The wife has always maintained i have a screw loose.

 

Their home gates arnt so clever either …average about 6k!

 

I'm at VP for the 1st time this season on Saturday. Maybe I've discovered some belief a game too early

 

It's a huge game for us, but not as a generic sporting event unfortunately.

 

The 12.30 kick off will reduce the attendance I think.
