From wondering where the goals are going to come from, to scoring 5 in two games with numerous good chances created in the last one, you have to ask why we don't seem as fluid when Cook plays up top. Is it the pressing of Kavanagh or runs from deep of Pattison causes problems. Whatever the answer, it was a joy to watch and yesterday should be a benchmark going forward.

Always like to give myself time to reflect on the game before posting
Undoubted the best performance of the season
We should have been out of sight by half time
No Cook had me a bit concerned, more fool me
It allowed our more mobile and skilled players to get the ball down and play
    Every player did their job
Well done and is this the way forward,we are well in touch with the promotion pack
    Long may it continue

No Jon it doesn’t work you see, as the thread doesn’t flow properly and none of it makes sense when you’re reading it. So to make it make sense, you have to “show ignored content” and then there is no point having that person on ignore in the first place!!

I only have one person on ignore and he is a very frequent poster so it is very hard at times trying to understand the context of conversations

RC is a massive WUM and is purely on here to torment everyone else, they deliberately post stupid shit to get everyone’s backs up. How can anyone be negative after yesterday’s game. That is the definition of a WUM and he should be banned permanently IMO

Excellent stuff, if only Kav had the scoring prowess of Andy…(.hed be in the CC).
Barn doors are hard to hit and the ball turns to a jumping bean at his feet however he is a rear pain up the bottom for defenders like it or not.
His worst trait ……anticipation so far for me.

Hey let’s nots be pedantic, yesterday was a joy to watch. Smallwood seemed a different player with Sarcevic and Patterson to do the running…..
3 up aat half time wouldn’t have been far fetched all prevented by their excellent keeper .

Yeah. That's the concern! We're definitely dropping points there.

This isn’t the first time we’ve played well and won, without Cook. Something for GA to think about.

I’d be asking Rupp to fund a transfer of a goalscoring Kavanagh type player, who can rotate with Cook (and Kav) so we can continue to focus on driving from midfield and pressing from the top, rather than hoofing it up to a big man.

For the love of the lord, can we please move on Oliver and Smith and possibly Walker. Not only do they not fit into “plan B”, I think Oliver & Smith are nowhere near plan A.

The really frustrating thing is that Cook isnt your typical 'big man' forward that needs the ball hoofing up to him.

Very true! Cook isn't played as a conventional 'big' target man who brings others into play; nor does he play at his best with a strike partner. His main skill is as a finisher - putting the ball into the back of the net with his feet or his head. And he's proved to be bloody good at it!

For him to do that however, he needs others to be providing him with the opportunities, particularly from the wide areas. In several games that has worked but it has created a very singular role for Cook. Yesterday's formation and style of play were not conducive to playing to Cook's strengths. It wasn't perfect but produced a very successful outcome without Cook. Food for thought for Alexander as he mulls over recruiting another striker in the transfer window but more so once Cook has recovered from his knee injury.

I'm interested if anyone else saw Oliver pulling up? There were a couple of comments about a leg injury. Would make it hard to move him on if he were injured.

I didn't notice it to begin with. My friend pointed it out to me and it was clear that Oliver was in some discomfort. Hope it doesn't delay him moving on!

We will struggle to move him on fully fit so being injured probably won’t make much difference.

It's the wingbacks, when Cook is playing they stay out wide to try cross the ball in. When he isn't playing they attack the box and far post more, as seen with Richards 2 goals. The most annoying thing is playing like this wouldn't hamper Cook in my opinion.

Probably would prefer the pay off package, rather than go to another club for a few months, then have to find another club. Don’t know but I just don’t think he should be on the field.

Apart from making them continue to play out from the back whist 3 - 1 down, not sure if it had not worked for69 minutes it certainly wasn't going to change once the 3rd went in.

Interesting stat from the WOTP article.

Sarcevic and Pattison have only started together 5 times this season.
    W4 D1 L0

I’ll admit to not being sure about Sarcevic before the last few games but he was obviously not fully fit.
Yesterday he linked the midfield and front perfectly.
For the penalty he lays the ball off and immediately moves himself forward to receive the pass.
He also plays the pass for Pattison to start the run for his goal.
Pattison deservedly got MOTM but he can’t do what he does without Sarcevic being the link.

On Pattison,I’m just pleased he’s looking fully fit and can be that midfielder who chips in with 8/10 goals and can continue to move the ball forward with energy and pace.
No defenders like players running at them.

Makes me laugh that folk are willing to make out Cook missing is not an issue on the back of one decent game ..............whatever you say about yesterday our replacement yet again didnt score ....................and if we are playing a different system when Cook is out then why not play the same system when hes in
