Any clarification on Richard’s not playing? Was he dropped or is he injured?

Liked the look of Markanday, a very tricky customer (wouldn't mind that lad), and Banks for them, but when the hell is Alexander going to twig that Brad Halliday simply cannot play LWB? The times he got caught out because he was on his wrong foot! Also Wright.....deary deary me, can someone please tell me just what he hell this lad brings to the side? Should be nowhere near the squad.

 

Cracking game today! Loved it.
1st half struggled abit but played well in 2nd half , good decision to bring Benn off as I though he was struggling.
Atmosphere was awesome, all 3 sides singing abd chesterfield played their part too, they went mental when they scored.
Love this club! Up the bantams !!!

 

That was very hard work.

First half was pathetic against a team struggling with 11 players missing..

And of course playing against the ref. What an absolute *@?$ he was.

Second half we did make easy... Sit back again and defend. Or try... Chesterfield were robbed.

 

Port vale was miles better game than today.

 

Baffling initial team selection. Playing Halliday on the left meant we were so unbalanced and it was a very tall order for Halliday to be up against Markanday.
You wonder why, given Richards was poorly, that Shepherd didn't play on the left and Halliday on the right to begin with.
Bobby Pointon kept us in the match with his goal.
For a 10 minute period in the second half we seemed to be flying. Sarcevic scored. Then after that brief flurry we reverted to misplaced passes, conceding possession and a very nervy finish.
Thought Sarcevic did well today and deserved MOTM. I'd not been too impressed thus far, but he was loads better today.

 

Agreed about the atmosphere Shoatsy, it took a bit of time to get going but by the end it was cracking.

We absolutely need to be playing in a division where opposition are bringing 2-3000, this division is absolutely pants, some of them struggling to bring 100 sometimes.

League One has it's share of small sides as well, but we must get out of this division.

 

Mellon looks like he did okay at Morecambe so hopefully rediscovers that form if it is him

 

Behave yourself, the Vale game was shite compared to this.

 

I feel, like any player coming back from injury, we have to give them a couple of games to get up to speed. In Wright's specific case, Alexander needs to pick a position he's going to play in and stick with it.

We have a chance now to get a proper left wing back in during January to compete with Richards. We've also got a chance to address the central midfield gap. We could have a stronger squad in a few weeks and hopefully can maintain our position near the top and push on

If he’s an attacking midfielder does that mean we’re going one up top? For me a box to box centre mid and striker were first 2 on the list. Cover for Richards being 3rd.

 

Lapslie has been playing that 8 role more often than not for the last 2 years more than the 10 role it looks like, he's coming in as Pattison cover/competition I'd guess and Walker is on the way out. He's played 81 minutes of league football since late October, so he might need a bit of time to get going.

Mellon might be in a similar boat, just over 100 mins of football in all comps all season for Mellon. Hasn't registered any minutes since mid November.

Cracking game tbh, not always the best quality but both sides played at a fast tempo. We got away with murder first half but made them pay. Bobby and Patto need to start every game when fit, I don’t want to hear Bobby isn’t a starter just because he has an off game, we need his directness and energy.

Their number 2 looked like a competition winner, laughable at times.

First half looked like both teams had been on the piss. Gifting away posession.

Second half much better. Moving Halliday and adding pointon was a logical change. Benn was struggling. Sarcevic looked a threat.

Markanday looked a tricky handful. His dribbling and close control a threat. He looked a handful but we managed him better second half.

Any come from behind win is encouraging. It shows heart. Heart that was awry in Nottingham.

I’m still unconvinced by us but at the same time by much of the opposition too. This season the league is much weaker. Really should be looking to get up without the need of playoffs.

 

The club but also reliant on Alexander not making weird/daft/stupid team selections and formations.
