Yeah but apparently Oliver does 'other stuff' apart from scoring goals, unlike the lazy arsed fat lad who does bugger all. Or summat.

 

Vadaine scored 27 goals in 82 games for Gillingham 3/4 seasons ago. 82 MOM's as well.

 

Throws himself about as a battering ram for 7 minutes....if Cook breaks his leg on Saturday and Oliver is our go to striker until January then we will be 14th/15th before you know it.

 

Yeah but I don't think "handing out training bibs and collecting the cones in" help much on the football side m9.

Just reading the T&A article on current injuries...another useless article which doesnt give any time frame or update to Kelly, Pattison or Johnson returning.

 

I think use of the word 'returning' is slightly disingenuous where Johnson is concerned!

 

We are now less worried about injuries and more worried about general sickness.

 

If it's not one thing, it's another eh. What we get for sharing our gym with snot nosed kids!

 

Hopefully Cook stays fit and firing and if the case Vadane will seen very little game time come the january transfer window and he looks more favourably on a move elsewhere, anywhere. Another season kicking his heels with us and his career will be done in my eyes. Even dropping into the national league and firing a few goals would get him noticed for one last move at the lower end of league two.
I would like to see Sanderson given more minutes, coming on for or replacing kav from the start, he looks to have something and given time could play the Cook role. I can not see us persuading another Cook type striker to sign and sit on the bench, because when fit Cook plays and generally scores.

 

Failing to find a partner for Cook has been a costly measure so far. Young for various reasons on both sides hadn't found time to do it. Oliver has been such a let down. Smith and Cook shared a field for 35 league games last season and linked up twice, not a partnership that clicked at all. Kav at the end of the season looked like he might be the one but he has looked woeful so far this season. There were flashes in Sanderson but another who may well be hot and cold? He didn't even have a shot on goal during his last two starts or win an aerial challenge. I assumed Sanderson was injured but he wasn't listed by the T&A today after they spoke to GA, so who knows?

I wouldn't be surprised to see us try move on Smith & Oliver in January and try use that money to try get a proven striker in the door. Oliver had one spell of about 15/20 games when he scored nearly a goal a game 3 or 4 years ago and other than that his career return is poor. Smith has never really been a starter his career to date at multiple clubs since he was a teen at Barrow in NL, another without a great goal return to show. Kav and Sanderson just don't have the games under their belt to know what they can consistently offer a team as of yet. If we are in a promotion situation, moving on two who are at best squad players would be my approach, add something proven to our other options of potential.

 

Still undecided on Kav, as you say looked good at the end of last season, but not started so well , better on Saturday and hopefully the start of an upturn in form. Sanderson is again quite young and form will fluctuate , but i thought he had something. Tyler Smith looks like he could be a Nakki Wells type, good movement and a bit of pace, but can not finish on a regular basis. Oliver a waste of money and space. Young, not exactly scoring for fun is he and proving those Swindon goals were a complete flash in the pan currently.

 

I was happy with how Sanderson was going - first of all actually scoring goals as a forward. It feels odd to me that he's suddenly been dropped from all contention perhaps on the back of one dodgy 45 minute period when Oliver and Kav have underwhelmed this season.

 

Isn't he giving his all in training Alexander seems to have that as his gauge with regards starting on a Saturday.

 

Martyn Waghorn a free agent, prolific goal scorer. At 34 though maybe only a short term deal.
Bet he'd come too!

I can't agree with that Kevin, Smith is far from poor and if not with us I feel he could come good elsewhere and we would regret letting him go ....

 

Been a long long time since Waghorn was "prolific" unfortunately.
