It makes sense though as when you see his pedigree, if he was fit, he'd definitely attract interest from higher than league two.

 

Apparently he's trained with Blackpool this week, Steve Bruce is in there now. Think he managed him at Newcastle so might be offering him a career lifeline? Obviously he's a talent but there's no chance you can depend on a bloke who barely played for all that time.

 

Mark Beevers has signed for Avenue today, we were linked with him in his prime days and he went to Phil Parkinson at Bolton. Not sure how old he is now.

 

He was levels above this at his prime, now 34. I think him and Hanson will have played against each other a couple of times.

 

The idea of signing Ciaran Clark reminded me of when we signed Lee Hendrie on a short term deal.

Maybe it's the Villa link.

Supposedly we couldn't afford to keep Hendrie, but his career fell off a cliff after us.

 

Wasn’t it Beevers that was sent off in our cup replay with Millwall that we won 4-0?

 

Certainly was, brings back some great memories that. Knowing we had to beat them for a tie against Chelsea, there was cracking atmosphere which lead to a very heated game.

It’s taken a few a long time to realise? It started with Lewis and on an on it goes. Apparantly according to some they are sporting “ experts” .

 

They are 20th in the division after spending a summer fortune on new players HE recruited.

Winkleman knew the year on year losses were no longer sustainable , otherwise why would he jump ship? Remember it was his stolen franchise, and hes sold the entire property portfolio included. That’s drastic for him.

Clarke certainly has a good pedigree. I’d be happy having him playing while fit.

 

Our record for injuries is bad but we must be due another Andrew Davies gem Shirley……

 

GA has said that we are looking at CBs and CMs in the free agent market, assuming that means Adams is out for a while as well as Kelly. We've already talked about Michael Hector, Anthony Stewart, TJ Eyoma & Tom Clayton above in the thread but here are some other free agents out there.

CBs

• Daniel Ayala - 33 years old, recently at Rotherham. Long term injury last season.
• Aaron Drewe - 23 years old, recently released by QPR coming through their ranks.
• Travis Johnson - 24 year old, has been a rotational option at Crawley and Crewe over the last few years.
• Tom Brewitt - 27 years old, was at Swindon last season playing over 30 times.

CMs

• Stevie Mallan - 28 years old, was at Salford last few injuries. Issues with injuries.
• James Olayinka - 23 year old, was at Cheltenham recently, nothing more than a rotational option in L1.
• Jake Taylor - 26 years old, was at Morecambe last few seasons as a squad player.
• Josh Grant - 25 years old - been at Bristol R the past few years.
• Harry Kite - 24 years old, came through Exeter academy and released in the summer.
• Rekeem Harper - 24 years old, has been a squad player at Burton and Exeter the last few years.
• Marcus Browne - 26 years old, has been at Oxford the past few seasons.

 

I would rather plough on with what we have got than bring any of that lot here.
