I'm not having a go at the lad btw, our style just completely bypassed him and probably to such an extent that I remember him being deeper than Halliday and picking the ball up at right back one time.

Let's see what he's got when he gets a start and more time to settle into the game.

I'm not sure what you witnessed as "link play" though considering we constantly just blasted it over his head and completely missed him out for the 15 minutes he was on the pitch.

He is correct. It was when he was actually a) here and b) getting a run in the team. Who'd have thunk it eh?

 

I think Bot's point is that a lot of people are very happy to accept GA's explanation as to why Young wasn't in the matchday squad on Saturday, i.e, he picks players that put the effort in during training, but don't accept that same explanation when it comes to other players when they are left out.

 

Bit of a nothing statement... he's played just over 200 minutes of football for the club since his last goal for us nearly 2 years back.

Train hard, get in the manager's ear, show a good attitude and you get picked. The reason he isn't in the team isn't his ability. GA is a very experienced manager, if someone shows the right attitude, body language and ability he's going to pick them. Cook doesn't get picked every week by sulking does he ?

Possibly true. I was it commenting on the needless sensationalising of a two year span where someone barely is in the building.

Just my view, I don't think it matters in the slightest if Young trains well or poor, he isn't playing a game for us in this window purely because he is our only sellable asset who in this window would fetch 6 figures, and they are kicking themselves that they didn't sell him in January. I think the plan was to use him at the start, but when interest ramps up they were always going to take him out of the picture and see where the interest goes.

 

The bit about being a bad trainer is rubbish. Some players are like that but if they score a screamer on Sat you still pick them. Its nonsense. Young isn’t picked because GA has been told to cash in on an asset worth, what? 250k? We wanted 500k in Jan but he’s got 12 months left now, not 18?

The club have decided to sell Young and look to be forcing Gillead out given he’s already rejected one move.

why aren’t we doing more to offload Kevin McDonald and Vadaine Oliver? Maybe we are, behind the scenes…..could do with both of those off the books quicker than losing Gillead or Young

 

Completely ignoring what he states at the beginning he didn’t put it in whilst training he didn’t get selected.

 

Delving into my bag of bitterness, I wouldn't be surprised to see McDonald and Oliver being paid off once Young and Gilly have left the building. It would be a stupid waste of the funds generated, but would be a typical bantams thing to do.
