On a side note, that £200k for Young is now looking like a missed opportunity. We could have had the cash and replaced with quality by now, instead we're still nowhere near finalising our squad for the season with it only 48 hours away.

Did you read about the Man U player Bassaka ( Spelling) who is refusing a move because he’s fully contracted for a multi million deal for another year. On a smaller scale Oliver is no different. I don’t blame him for staying put when he’s probably on good money.

 

Didnt he say he wanted another 2 or 3 before Wright and Shepherd?! Possibly realised the ones so far are not up to it?

 

Those are the players I'd have suggested might be leaving as well.

Doubt we get any takers for Kev, and offering him out kinda suggests we don't want him as a coach either.

Wilson I bet goes on loan somewhere and does well.

 

Walker is great but we have Sarcevic and Bobby pushing for a shirt. Smallwood and Pattison look nailed on. We have enough for stand another Walker lay off. Only area of the pitch im not concerned about tbh.

Bin off Stubbs, hooefully Kev and Oliver move on and bring in a real quality CB and ST with Young money.

 

Agree, Walker isn't as critical this season. He'll be important, but not so much that we can't slot another attacking midfielder in there if he does get injured.

As it stands, I'm not even sure he or Pointon will be starting, which shows we are actually well stocked in the centre.

Only difference is, we have no idea if anyone out there has some actual interest in Oliver. Like Man Utd, our contracts are biting us in the arse a bit although there's are more due to no club wanting to pay anywhere near the wages the United lot are now used to, and we are burned my length. Oliver shouldn't have had a 3 year offer at his age, McDonald shouldn't have had 2 with his past.

 

Agree. Players have a limited time period to earn their money. It's not their fault that a club offered silly money and now want to change their minds!

 

Yeh could well be Pattison and Sarcevic.

Im not really a fan of Oduor but as a 4th choice AM you wont get much better. We have some depth in that area.

Hughes really screwed us over with these 2. We were used to handing out one year deals until he rocked up. Anyone over a certain age should never be offered 3 year deals. Give them 2 (if they're decent like Cook) with a year in our favour. Otherwise one year, with a year in our favour.

 

I think his comments about be "available" refer to him being available to play, especially when taken in context of "he's trained and is available".

 

Isn't the whole point of FFP that you can only spend a percentage of turnover on wages ? Effectively FPP is 100% about wages.

 

I don't blame Hughes for those deals. It was Sparks who took credit for them at the time so the responsibility lies with him.

 

This green light has been on for a few days now for this loan to happen hasn't it?
