Something seems really off with this summer. Not looked fluid once in pre-season. Feels like Oliver isn't going anywhere, guessing the offers we had were miles off?

That extra money? Christ knows where that is, probably in the same pot the £200k we got for Lewis went in.

I'm not a hater or a lover of Young.
I'm just basing my opinion on listening to him talk, watching him at training over the summer and his relationship with the club during the tenure of Hughes and now GA.
Rumour has it he doesn't train hard?
    I've seen that for myself.
In the videos for pre season training he also says himself he hates it as it's hard work. Not an attitude you can imagine GA appreciating.
Is he happy as not been 1st choice, something he was supposedly promised when he joined the club?
Is he a better player for the way we play than say Kav or even Smith.
No matter what I think about Smith and some of the chances he missed last season, he grafts hard for the side and doesn't seem from the interviews I've heard or seen from him be bothered about being a squad member than a starter.
Kavanagh we know is a grafter and has good balance to play either side of the attack.
I've watched him over the summer down at Rawdon Meadows, he stays back when everyone else is drifting off to practice free kicks alone and extra shooting drills. A great attitude.
I do see a few comments about supposedly easing players back after surgery, but I don't buy it.
Young takes part in full training and started in Austria against Vien 2.
I've seen how they treat players they are easing back, none of them do full training until they are match ready.
Lack of minutes, not a starter in what was our stand out friendly, an asset who will still have interest after his Swindon spell and rumours in the press of moving, whilst not being our star striker and essential to the way the team plays.
    Only one outcome imo.

I think on transfer deadline day Oliver will go out on a season long loan, and McDonald will have his contract cancelled by mutual consent, and he’ll end up in Scotland. Deals like these always go to the wire for some reason. Expect a few more loans coming in on deadline day too.

Well at least it doesn't leave us in the enviable situation like last season when we laboured to score goals, on looking at half time results we see Young has got another brace or more, good luck to the kid it benefits no one him sitting on the bench or not even making the match day squad.

If Alexander wants him out he clearly hasn’t impressed enough has he. We don’t see him training to see what effort he puts in the manager does.

@vin weasel@vin weasel posted a good reply with regards Young, I know from the past he's been down to Rawden Meadows and watched training on a pretty regular basis.

Just my opinions, but yes I try to get down twice a week if I can especially during pre season when the weather is good.

Eh? You do know we're talking about Romarn Burrell? If so I'm lost Bronco, I'm not sure on your point pal?

I heard Stevenage have offered 250k for young but the sticking point is we’re holding out for 200k with Oliver going to them too.

Agree we need to stop signing injury prone players but why sign Callum Johnson then - Jordan?

I had hoped Oliver could activate the £1 bid, clause in his contract. I’m quite happy to gift it to Stevenage if they are short of change.

I’ve seen several comments in the media today, not just Nixon, all saying Stevenage are looking to reunite Jake with Kemp as their Swindon double act.

They have money to be fair. Sold Vancooten to Burton a couple of weeks ago. Was said to be "a substantial fee"

Your guess is as good as mine on that one. Unless he's been told he's a back up player on a squad rotation role at best? But yeah, another head scratcher.

The suggestion from at least two sources says he’s a poor “trainer”.

Didnt MH suggest it, GA ditto and observations on here last preseason suggested he was sauntering around during a session at WHG under MH?
Maybe that’s why he hasn’t had the chance?

Makes sense. I said we should have tried to get Kemp for that very reason. I'd have taken him over Sarcevic if we could have got him.

It makes a lot of sense for all parties. For whatever reason, I doubt that Jake will get much gametime under Alexander this coming season and Stevenage get to reunite 2 players who when together at Swindon were greater than the sum of the 2 individual parts. And we earn some money .. to supplement Rupp's pledged investment! I really hope that a deal can be concluded which helps everybody.

If we can get £250,000 for Jake it'll certainly go a long way to sprucing up Rupps race cars.
