With 3 games to go were could have got a play off place I'd suggest that's being in the play off mix but I'm not going to get into petty argument if you don't agree fine.

Yeh so like I said, we wernt in the promotion mix - we didnt come close to promotion.

There is a very worrying mentality amongst our fanbase. Its almost like a large proportion simply accept mediocrity and seem satisfied.

I can't hide the fact that I am concerned about this window's recruitment, especially Callum Johnson because of his injury record and him being injured already. However, football is all about how players gel rather than the quality of each individual, and for that we have to trust that GA has got it right.

If he is using three at the back, specifically that Byrne, Stubbs & Kelly gel (I have no concerns with Wright if he's here as a LWB) or if he's using a back four, how he fills the left back role as I don't think Wright can play as a genuine "Stephen Darby type" fullback. Baldwin, to me, is a makeweight and won't be a first choice.

If it's a three I believe we need another CH as cover. If it's a four we have enough.

The same logic applies in midfield, whatever formation. We only have Smallwood & Gilliead as DMs so no cover if both are out, unless he plays Walker there, which he did at the back end of the season. AM is absolutely fine, we have plenty of cover and choices in Walker, Pointon, Sarcevic, Pattinson, Wright (dependant on formation).

Upfront we have options around & behind with Young, Kav & Smith, but no cover at all for Cook. Young (happy birthday fellah) is tall enough but doesnt seem to have the bulk. Norwood, if signed and kept fit, is a solid 15- 16 goals a season man, and is actually younger than Cook, but he's only 5ft 10 so he's hardly a direct replacement for Cook, who despite not looking that tall is over 6ft.

I would take Norwood, who scores a goal on average every 2.7 games (197 goals in 532 league games) over Jamie Oliver, who might be a great chef, but only scores a goal every 5.1 games (77 in 387 league games). Despite the @Park bantam@Park bantam attempts to big him up, outside of last season he has never played less than 30 games in a season and has only hit double figures in two of those ten seasons as a pro.

Norwood is only a year older than Oliver and with 600 games under his belt will have the nous to better at managing his time in and out of a game.

I have to trust in GA. We all do, and as I think @Bronco@Bronco alluded to, without social media we really wouldn't be having these massive debates about the quality of recruitment and would just leave it down to what GA thinks.

Imagine the meltdown we would have had in the early 80's if we had had this god awful social media when we signed three reserve players from Coventry, then later in the 80's signed Ian Ormondroyd from Thackley. Two of those players went on to be sold for a combined fee of £1.3 million. Huge money for the time.

My level of expectation, without further recruitment, is if it gels we could do well, if it doesn't we will be 9th to 12th.

Did we actually reach the playoff positions at any point last year? With the euros it seems like the end of the season was a long time ago and I can't actually remember if we did or not.

It didn't feel at any time that we were ever genuinely going to threaten promotion though.

I've made my position with regards MY club very clear, where as you seem to be happy to not renew and "see how it goes" then pay on the gate, that's me fully committed I'm a Bradford City SUPPORTER you obviously see things different, some may say you're a band waggoner if things are going well you'll be back and shouting from the roof tops how well your club are doing, thank goodness we have 14,000 or so like me than like yourself.

No need to be self righteous now is there? You don't know anything about me old boy - you are making a few assumptions.
People have a choice to renew or not and unlike you, I don't snap at folk who havent renewed, nor would I criticise those that have renewed.

I just asked a simple question whether 'there abouts' is acceptable to you. It seems it is, but I don't think its good enough. We were promised better this window.

No the promise was a team that compete with the top teams in this league and I think we are nearly there.

Here I go again championing lost causes, but I think there's definitely a player in Baldwin if he can cut out the silly mistakes (if there have even been that many). He's seems to have a bit of pace, he's not afraid to carry the ball or even take a man on (yup scary moments ahead when he does it in our area), can hit a pass as well. Of course his shenanigans in our own box could turn out disastrous but equally he could become a fans favourite. And yes I know he's in his late 20s and hasn't got 500 league games under his belt. We have been desperately short of characters - I hope he surprises us.

Never did and never deserved to. To be fair to GA he'd been left a shitshow by Hughes/Sparks/Gent (although I do feel some sympathy for Gent).
A real test of his management now, to not reach the playoffs this year would be an unmitigated disaster.

Agree after the previous season it certainly was a let down but unfortunately after the the first 10 or so games we all knew it was time for Hughes to go, we then had McDonald in charge for several games until Alexander took over to get us to where we finished (as I posted at one time in with a chance of a play off) he did a good job but we were hardly consistent, but of course it was not like the previous season when we were right up there most of the season, and until that late run never looked like getting into the play off because of our inconsistency.
If you read my original post to which @Sergio Pinto III@Sergio Pinto III replied I said IMO we'll be there abouts which I thought most would accept as being in the play off mix, obviously I should have offered more detail, posting on here really is hard work at times.

So in answer to your question no at no time were we in a play off position but the vast majority on here accepted with 3 games to go we could achieve a play off place if we could continue our winning run and other results went for us unfortunately it wasn't to be and we ended up falling short.

What makes me sad is the divisive nature of social media, which is obvious on here. What I would like is acceptance of alternative views. We have chatted and accepted fans and supporters on here for years. If someone has supported city for 40 years as an example, I have no problem accepting their decision not to renew. I know it will not have been an easy decision, because I was in the same position but decided to buy a ST. Likewise, all those that have bought ST, and will continue to support the club financially regardless of results and promotion or not. We are all city fans whether we have a ST or not. I supported City for years before even considering buying a ST. It was £7 on the kop in those days.

The hostility towards both sets of fans really upsets me. I would hate to see ppl being driven away from this site due their status either a city fan with or without a ST. Surely we can accept their decision either way. I have expressed my opinion for what it is worth that our club is in the doldrums and although the owner has said he will increase the budget so we can compete with the top clubs, however like previous years it doesn’t appear to have materialised as yet, still a few weeks to go.

What I would like for us all to consider is the negative quality of social media, ie it is hard to resist not picking up the vibes (sorry that is my best effort) of what is going on. If you read these boards as I do most days, it is hard to get a balanced view and we can all slip into being too optimistic and or too negative it is just the way social media works; it can and does affect the way we see things. I am eternally grateful for the knowledge some posters have on outside players, @Jordan@Jordan is one example. The we have strategists as an example @Faithful Bantam@Faithful Bantam @WilsdenBantam@WilsdenBantam @Inspector@Inspector. We have posters with historic knowledge like @Bronco@Bronco as an example. Financial experts like @Dennis@Dennis, who keeps us up to date with good accurate information. This is a community we have here, with all kinds of expertise, let’s not jeopardise or make ppl feel unwelcome. Soon enough we will see what kind of squad we have, give it six weeks, middle of September before we see the nuts and bolts of the team.

You really don't like being challenged do you, you're the only poster that challenged my original comment I believe most understood my point, maybe just for you I should have made it crystal clear "I think we will finish in the top 7" IE there abouts in the mix whatever, its a shame the thread about where we expect to finish doesn't allow you to see who voted for what as I voted for a top 7 place and promotion through the play offs is that clear enough, and that's before a ball is kicked in anger, now get yersen a ticket bought.

No, nowhere near but we had a go at sneaking in due to Barrow imploding so thats absolutely fine. As long as we keep talking about nearly reaching the play offs then we should all be positive.
