2024 Released Players & City transfer rumours

We've had far more incompetent owners over the years than competent Faithfull and it is frustrating, but as @Kevin1954 posted back in the day no one cared what the player budget was, they got excited when through some media channel we were connected to a player we could only dream of signing, in our case a guy called Ken Leek, in those days even in League One they weren't big earners so many had to drop down the leagues to earn a crust but Ken Leek was a Welsh international possibly coming to Bradford City made your mouth water, more so when he signed for us even at the age of 30 he was a delight to watch and gave fans something to dream about.

 

No, I'm not sure, I'm just going by what I was told, which is that it was him! Whoever it is though has definitely travelled to Austria. If you zoom in on the picture below you can see him on the bike close to the building near the tractor.

Not sure with regards Gillingham's closed season transfer dealing this season but the money they have invested last closed season and possibly this they wont be happy if they fail again, from my limited dealings with Americans they don't like it if there's no return on the bottom line, and as we know only too well there are no guarantees in football.

And wasn't the legend with non league Farsley Celtic when we brought him to Valley Parade, Bryan Edwards spotting him in a Farsley Celtic v Bradford City junior side in a friendly.

 

I can understand the fans who jumped on the band wagon under the Richmond times but for fans who have followed their club most of their lives I can't understand why they are now calling out the owners of the club yet were more than happy to support Bradford City through many years of lets be honest crap seasons, maybe they have found other interests which is fine there are far more pastimes now adays, but in my case Saturday is football day and Valley Parade or away if I could afford it back in the day were the way I lets off steam supporting MY TEAM/CLUB, not Rupp or Sparks. Sharpe or anyone else who is not involved with my Saturday escape.

 

Scott Neilson came from non league, as did Ross Hannah.

We could play this game all day and it makes not a jot of difference to the ability of any new signing but I bet you run out of names first.

 

And we have signed established names that have been total flops as well plenty of them

Sam Graham was definitely the centre half in the second 45 at Guiseley.
He was also probably the best centre half on the day who played for us that day.

 

Maher was 1st half
Graham was 2nd half

 

Hopefully he's one that got away then.

I'm more optimistic at taking a chance on a lad like this rather than the two we signed as he's still reasonably young and hopefully still has potential to improve significantly.

Sam Graham was probably best defender on show at guiseley, can’t win with some fans, moan if we get old injury prone players and moan if we take a chance on someone from non league, bet he works his arse off if he does get given a chance unlike some of players we ve had in past

 

So why wasn't it done during all the lean years you have supported the club Faithful, during the times I've supported Bradford City and I'm sure yours IMO there have only been two owners who sold Bradford City with regards bringing fans on side Stafford Higginbotham and of course Geffrey Richmond unfortunately neither had the financial clout to do it with their own brass, fortunately the Rhodes family got involved and were a massive factor in bank rolling the club certainly during our Championship days, once in the Premier it became a deferent animal and they were adequately compensated I believe.
With regards your fans forcing change by not purchasing season tickets I can only speak for myself and my close family and as I've explained I could never see that happening certainly with regards myself, and I believe (I have nothing to back that opinion up with) many other Bradford City supporters feel the same.

 

I never said that. But I think we already had the makings of a good team and on top of the signings two players available who weren’t last season one of which according to you is worth up to half a million. There are plenty of players in our squad other teams would want in theirs. I have said there are question marks about our defensive signings to be answered but we leave that to the director of Football of which is the panacea according to a lot of our fans

 

Did he play right sided central defender or central or left and what kind of build is he

 

Like I said not seen this young lad in action but I certainly think you make a very valid point and note your opinion of his performance.
Any move for him will no doubt be assessed further if he is indeed with the present squad in Austria.
