That's what makes me think we've got a guy in from L1. Maybe promoted fairly recently and found himself just being replaced when they had to recruit. Or someone who was signed from our level to CH/L1 and hasn't made the jump like a Critchlow type.

Makes me think it's not a youth loan because they'd just let him leave at any point more often than not.

We are not competing at all against other sides in the division this transfer window.

So many other clubs have made decent signings and aside from Sarcevic and Johnson, who surely wont be starting above Halliday? Ours have been poor.

We're forcing a winger to play wing back, brought in a CB who spent most of his career in non-league and a player who was part of a side that conceded 86 goals last season.

Sharpe, Rupp and Gent are all laughing at us. If anything, we've gone cheaper on the squad which is completely the opposite of what was promised to us just a month ago!

Once again the ultras will be out in force having a go at you, and me for daring to be critical.

It was the end of the season, a lot of them wins against teams with nothing to play for. New team, new opposition, think you need to forget last season - like you do when we have a bad season.

I think Kavanagh will do alright and get well into double figures next season.

Valid concerns, which will probably be brushed off for another month or so. You'll get fans who think signings should be a slower burn but most should be in by now. Then you'll get some who believe the best signings come later in the window and we need patience. Both can be right, both can be wrong.

I reckon most managers would want their first teamers or at least 95% of them in the door before you go away for training camp. If we are 95% there, it's worrying. Tomorrow it will be 7 weeks since we signed Baldwin, in those 7 weeks we've only brought in one additional face in Wright, who we had last season anyways. On the other hand, we have just over 6 weeks left in the window. But the longer you leave it, you don't want to be overpaying or held ransom on certain signings or then struggling to bring faces in and you end up with some guff.

I also think we have quality up top as long as we can get the ball up/over to them enough ...

100%! Our transfers looked good as we did our dealings early before other clubs but now, we are seeing Port Vale taking the risks that our owner said we would also take to compete but then we have trailists from the sixth tier appearing for us in pre-season. It just doesn't add up

The defence is the worry, especially at left back/left wing-back and across the central positions.

Equally, we still have a midfield consisting of Smallwood, Gilliead, and McDonald, which is a worry if Walker and Pattison pick up injuries.

Pointon and Sarcevic are the positives in the midfield positions, but then yes, the striking options are good in terms of Cook, Young and Kavanagh.

We should also look to move Oliver and Smith on to bring in one real decent striker to challenge Cook and provide some freshness to the front line

Which could quite easily have been - I want £2k per week, responded with a sod off it's a pay cut or you leave. Bottom line is Notts didn't want to keep Balwin enough to offer him a decent new deal, whereas we actually thought that Platt would take up his year's option.

I honestly think that most of them are starting to realise. Compared to last year I've received very little criticism for being negative about our signings and I've certainly read more negativity than usual at this time of year.

Works both ways though doesn't it? He could quite easily have said I know there's other clubs after me, I want a £2k pay rise so they went off you pop then. The Platt thing also works both ways, if we wanted him enough we'd have offered him more.

The point is him being 'released' at the end of his contract has been used as a stick to beat him and the club with throughout the summer as if the only possible scenario is that he wasn't considered for a new contract as they didn't think he was good enough when there's plenty of other scenarios that could have happened

For all the negativity thats starting to brew up, 99% of us don't actually believe we need major investment this window and actually one good signing would get rid of most of the worries/criticisms. 1 quality Centre Half, I don't want to rule out a Crichlow or Tomkinson just yet, I think most would agree we're virtually there.

Tomkinson is no chance. A) I dont even think he is quality, just decent and wouldnt add much B) Im not convinced GA was a huge fan, preffered Oyegoke towards back end of season C) He is playing in the Olympics so wont be back until September with no pre season under his belt.

I'm starting to think he might be your brother. Simple question, would you swap back Platt for Baldwin, I would and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't find any dissenters to that.

What type of forward is Ibbitson? Could he be the back up to Cook in the more target man style?
I don’t think 45-50 goals from Cook, Kav and Young is stretching it too much as potential.

id say I’m like everyone else, and would like a LWB, CB and if funds allow a new DM and No2 Keeper.

there should be a decent young DM we can get in on loan, probably the same for the No2 keeper

Spot on , money contributes , and “ improves” chances, but unfettered investment guarantees nothing.

I don't know yet, I haven't seen Baldwin play... Though I was a big fan of Platt, seems a lot more have joined me in that opinion since he left!

For me Tomkinson was the more developed player. I might be wrong but I think GA was playing Oyegoke because he thought we had a chance of getting him back this season, either on loan or on a perm.

Platt didn't have an option, like Chapman. Talking of whom, he doesn't seem to have been snapped up yet.
