Remember seeing Kian Harratt posing for a pic on the First Bus two years ago. A bit of hare coursing later and he was soon off!

Their striker signings actually scored goals last season. Would you believe it.

Does it really matter? This might be a foreign concept but clubs can invest in their squad and still carry debt.

Excellent….. So there is no need for Williams takeover? So are you saying the debt is real and not fiction. One has to ask why are they in the khazi league with all this “ investment” , you report?

We have two strikers who scored goals last season and one who showed real potential

Williams takeover? Mate what are you on about, I'm a Vale fan and have no idea.

You could just say "oh right fair enough, I was wrong."

Yes but my point went over your head. They aint throwing shit at the wall are they. They are signing strikers off the back of a good season, scoring lots of goals.

When was the last in demand striker we signed with a good last season to his name? Wyke in 2016?

I presume one of those you refer to is Young who didn't score a goal for us and I can see us cashing in on him this summer and selling him

So what you doing one here. I was waiting for the reveal.

Several news reports denied……….. So that’s my reference source.

A Vale statement read: "We are aware of the 'exclusive' news that appeared in several national news outlets overnight and want to clarify the following: Robbie Williams has not made a bid to purchase Port Vale Football Club and there have been no conversations regarding that happening.31 Jan 2024

I'm starting to find it very concerning that the only signing we have made in seven weeks is a returning loanee. It started very well with Sarcevic, but the ones since are very much squad players that don't really improve the squad.

    My enthusiasm is quickly draining.

The last two paragraphs sum up my present feelings going into the new season.
The whole article is worth a read.

Rupp and co just need to ensure they truly are reading the room, and on the same page as supporters. If for any reason they spot that they aren’t, they need to be proactive in addressing it. Perhaps one of Rupp’s biggest personal challenges is to understand he can’t always be the good guy he wants to be – and that true honesty means communicating bad news as well as positive.

There is a long, long way to go for Bradford City to get back to where they were in 2016. But at the very least, this season they can return to the level they started. And if Rupp truly has pressed the reset button and can repair the frayed trust within large swathes of the fanbase, the club has a chance of truly reviving itself again.

For all their supposed “wealth” they are in the basement along side us. More “ promised investment” ?
“Big club” syndrome manifests itself all over L1/2.

    Snap!

I cant shake the feeling of "we've heard this all before", especially around the promise of funds. Fingers crossed with the addition of Sharpe, we have someone who is willing and more importantly able to communicate well with the fans. I think that has been one of Sparks' bigger issues so far, his ability to communicate a message that lands with the fans.

Let’s see how long it takes them to get back out of it. I bet it won't be anywhere near 6 years (and counting).

Im not against the Johnson signing....could be useful but there is that big 'if' isnt there. I really want to see us go out and splash some cash on a ready made centre back with a decent pedigree.

But they are certainly doing something about that and showing ambition, intent and purpose. Their transfer business this summer is the envy of the division.

Bruno is also a decent manager. Top 3 IMO.

Not sure he meets all your criteria but Doyle looked a good signing tbh. I think most people were optimistic about him. Appreciate it didn't work out well!

There's a quote I've seen this morning on Twitter from the interview Rupp did with the Yorkshire Post on 28th June. He said, 'recruitment is ongoing slowly but steadily, and I think we will heavily improve what is already there'.
'Heavily improve what is already there' suggests better signings yet to come, but since then, only Wright has come (back) through the door, so an 'as you were' signing rather than an improvement imo, unless he can suddenly get back to being the player he was in his first spell with us.
And then we have the comment GA made to Bronco at the training ground a couple of weeks ago about only another 2 or 3 players to come in, 2 of which will be loans. Well Wright is a permanent signing so I'm guessing it's either 1 or 2 loans to come in and we are done. It just feels like yet again, words are stronger than actions with this football club.
