Yeah I never thought Wilson put a foot wrong but seemingly isn't GAs type. McDonald is apparently coaching? So can't see him leaving.

 

He's clearly forgot that he's been hammering me for suggesting the defenders we have aren't good enough and we've potentially a right back playing there yet here he is now suggesting exactly what I've been saying for the last 3 weeks! Bonkers!

Well he is a winger so his face doesnt fit. He wont come close to the matchday 18.

 

Squad as it stands

Keepers: Walker, Doyle

Right Wing Back: Halliday (Gillead, Johnson as backups)
Left Wing Back: Wright, Richards as Back up (Gillead further cover)

Centre Backs: Kelly, Baldwin, Byrne, Johnson

Mids: Smallwood, Pattison, Walker, Sarcevic, Pointon, Gillead

Forwards: Cook, Kavanagh, Young, Smith, Odour

Surplus: Wilson, Oliver, McDonald, Stubbs

I'd be looking to get another CB, and probably move Smith on to bring in another striking option.

We really don't look like we're far off having what should be a good squad though.

Alexander was talking Stubbs up in interview in t&a other day don’t think he’s going no where , very good centre back at this level think he ll compete with Byrne for that middle spot of 3

He's currently the only decent CB we've got. Kelly did well in patches last year but still isn't at the level your Platts and Critchlows were.

 

I think Stubbs is somewhat underrated by some on this board, he had a good run of games pre injury. I think we could do with a RB or rwb possible no 10 type player but I think BPoints could fulfill that roll. Reminds me a little or a raw Bradley Dack.

 

Bang on Stubbs is as good as you get at our level

 

Just lacks that pace, which if he had he’d be nowhere near league two!

 

Not that I’m aware of, McDonald, Wilson and Oliver are the only confirmed ones. I’d imagine that there might be more but not Stubbs especially given that we’ve lost Platt.

His pace can be an issue but not as much if you play him centrally and flanked by pace. If you do that then I think that he’s one of the best in L2.

 

I think people wrongly think he’s dead man walking because he was singled out a little bit in the Notts County (away) debacle.

 

I always said I would like to see a standout signing at CB as Mansfield did with Aden Flint. Having said that if Graham Alexander feels that isn't necessary I'm happy to see how it pans out.

 

You said we need a CB....need and would like are different things.

 

Might be my mistake then, I thought he was one of those told to find a new club.
