Recycling the same arguments? Well maybe if our recruitment wasn't so underwhelming every summer and actually showed some ambition we wouldn't have to recycle. 6th year in L2 and nothing has changed this summer to say they are definitely going for it.

Same as my reply above, we didn't release him...Jewell did a deal with Abbott to take him from us to Leeds at about 12 or 13

 

What I don't get is why folk slag our recruitment off.
I've yet to witness how are new recruits perform in Claret and Amber.
What they did previously isn't really relevant, it's how they play for us that matters.
We did a lot of our business early doors surely that got to be a bonus from an squad integration perspective.

 

Sounds like Notts County are about to get a good bit of budget in to find a new striker. Millwall have reportedly matched their valuation bid for Langstaff of £2.6m after having a£1.7m bid rejected earlier in the week.

To be fair, I haven't seen many or any really slag off any of the players we've brought in. I think there's an under-bubbling of discontent again towards the ownership because it's started to feel hollow words were said again over the recruitment. After the pledge of increased funds to compete, we've ended up signing a lot of players we could have probably also ended up with without the promise of funds.

If Wright is bought and we also have a few players in to finish the team who can make a difference, i think it will go away. But when you leave it over a month without a deal, you are going to get some questions. Just what happens in window season.

You could buy Notts Countys entire squad too. Crazy money at this level, makes you wonder how much we were asking for Young. Carlisle manager came out saying we're asking for silly money. Surely we were wanting upwards of a million

 

You can’t have it both ways people moan if we leave to late (we had four in before May was out) then when they get people in early they are moaning because it’s while since they made a signing

Different positions and playing styles I know but mcburnie really was thrown in the deep end because Hanson was injured but still used as a target man and focal point of our attack before he was physically ready. My memory is not as good as it was but I think it was Gareth grant who had a similar baptism when coming on as a sub was really lightweight and got clattered by razor ruddock then the other centre half next challenge as if it was a lesson (welcome to mans football)

 

You say it like it's one or the other? Like you either sign everyone early or everyone late? Don't think there's a right or wrong way to do it to be honest. But you certainly don't let a month pass by and still say in the press you want 2 or 3 more. It shows you aren't getting your targets or we're happy waiting, I hope it's the second.

For what it's worth, 9 teams in L2 signed 3 or more players by the end of May, all but City have gone on to sign at least 2 more since May.

 

The club made it clear that there wouldn't be wholesale change's to the squad.
As you rightly point out we concluded a few deals early doors the fact we've not added since seems to have upset a few.
Why?
The money spent on players is surely up to the management team if they decide to bring one or two in before the window shuts then obviously our manager thinks they are required.
He always said they might have to play a waiting game to get who they want, to do that you don't rush into spending silly money when it's not required at this moment in time.
