Didn't Plymouth try Wright at wing back?
I'm sure that I read it somewhere, but apparently it was a complete failure which ended in the lad not even igetting in the match day squad.

They did in L1 and it didn't go well. They did in pre-season too last year and in a handful of games and again the outcome from the Plymouth fanbase was that he is out of his depth.

Our level is a different kettle of fish I suppose? The 5 at the back wing back tactic was the most used tactic in L2 last season. But looking through the setups, a lot of the more successful ones were wingers who are dropping deeper, than full backs who are pushing forward. He still doesnt really know of have experience as a wing back other than a handful of starts there for us and Plymouth. He needs to learn the role still which he cant do having the odd cameo for Plymouth in the champ.

Go tell Alexander who you have in mind, I'm sure he would be very interested in your input.

Lord Luton (Don P) crashed and blew up at Luton and I bet he was on some money. Same with Wright there is a player in there. The game I went to at Walsall away he terrified there players on occasions. The season before he was very very good. If available he may work..

Wright was a PR signing in my opinion. Worked out as well as the other PR klaxon Dom “Perignon” Pereira. Neither cut the mustard the second time round. We don’t need Wright. Fans should be excited enough about the new season and signings made and those to come, without the need for a “coming home/bantams thing” type stunt.

Someone tell York that McDonald is far better than Smallwood and if they want both, we will consider a BOGOF deal.

Christ knows where he thinks they have money from, although a fair few in NL have money these days. Forest Green are signing players on daft money. Rochdale and Oldham seemingly have cash to burn this summer, Barnet too. Saw Andy Holt complaining on twitter this morning because a player they were in talks with has turned them down to sign on for £4.5k a week in NL.

Just opinions. Doesn't mean they are right or wrong but we are all entitled to have them.

Wingback, winger or forward, depending on formation.

But you don't wind up the people that are over the top with their praise and "up the management's backside" as you put it?

Didn’t he sign when they were in league one and not the championship? I think he’s more likely on a average league 1 wage rather than championship wage.

I think they did. He did well in a different role for us but moving to a top league 1 side and put in an unfamiliar role has probably stretched him beyond his capabilities. Step back down to league 2 and it will be a lot easier.

I think York are well off judging by their academy set up.

York have this young lad at the helm of the ship, seems to have grandiose ideas after what was a poor season where he'd been criticised for his running of the club after reading between the lines.

Statistics are of course only a part of the story though. The managers style of play, the strength of the players in front of the keeper and even slices of luck all play huge parts.

An obvious example would be Ben Williams setting a club record number of clean sheets but I don't think many would say he's clearly the best keeper we've had at this level and the club certainly agreed as we refused to offer him anything more than 12 months which is why he left at the end of that season.

Have Rochdale been taken over ? Only seems like a few weeks ago they were on the verge of extinction

That's too many positions for me.

If he's coming to be a wing back, he needs a full pre-season and all the pre-season games to start getting used to the role. Chopping and changing roles isn't going to help him. He isn't like Halliday who knows the right back role very well and is now evolving into a right wing back.

If he's playing as a forward, wouldn't we then have too many forwards? Who would you want to leave?
