Where he lacks, compared to Bobby for example, is the best description of why he doesn’t score goals.

Yesterday classic in point. Bobby arrives very late in the box as his many , and yesterday’s goal testifies . When balls are coming in from the opposite side I never seem to spot TW arriving late ?

I think you've hit it on the head with your last comment Inspector - "I hope once we get back to early season performances the atmosphere will come back"

Nobody can complain about the position that we're in or the results etc. We have seen that the early season performances at VP are now not quite the same, although adequate results wise.
We were on the front foot right from the start and playing great, entertaining football, sometimes destroying teams within the first thirty minutes or so.
Now we appear to have reverted more to hoofball again at what seems to be any opportunity, instead of the fast flowing, man to man football played generally on the floor.
Have teams 'worked us out' and making us play the long balls (Kelly especially) - who knows but GA like the rest of us must surely see that things have changed a bit.
This is surely why fans are a little nervous (including me!) and expecting the visitors to punish us - after all we've all seen it at VP before!!!

It's what Bobby does well to be fair, arguably the strongest point of his game. Nobody else in the squad does it. It's not part of Wrights game with usually being played at left wing back. I'm a bit torn on Tyriek, I like his effort but at times I'm not sure what he does well. He isn't a winger that doesn't really take full backs on as some want him to do, yesterday he was running at a centre back in O'Connor who runs with lead boots on.
His versatility gets him a squad place but as with every position I think we can do better.

Lapslie is one who is good at arriving at the right time too, or seemed to be last season.

For two teams with so much quality both never gave us major issues when we played them .......... in my opinion its a very average league one and i would be shocked if us or a number of other teams pip both clubs to the post

It can be part of TW’s game. Neuf is always lurking out on the right side of the pen area , ditto Halliday at times. Touray can do it on the left, Wright doesn’t seem to have the confidence to commit at the last push. Maybe he’s told not to?

Think the attmosphere may have been a bit flat due to the team we played that aint arrived in huge numbers the next set of games may up the noise levels ...............we should be pushing 22k for the Wigan game

In fairness that was league 2. He went to a club full of confidence and couldn’t get a look in. He can be hard to play against when he’s on it, but he’s hardly ever on fire. Definitely not good enough for the championship should we get there. We need players who are 7/8 out of 10 week in week out. Wright is anything from a 5-7 at best.

Fans have short memories. Most were on his back first half, although to be fair some the mistakes weren't even his. Bit of a scapegoat in that respect. I want to see more of what he did for the assist yesterday, but he ain't gonna be running at Paudie O'Connor every week, usually a half decent full back turns him inside where due to his total reliance on one foot his only option is to pass side ways or backwards.

Which team is a good question. There can't be a team in the league takes as long over throw ins as us. Amazed we haven't had more bookings for it. And it isn't just the throwers fault. The whole team seems to stop moving!

Lapslie is good for a well timed run, even when he's not really involved in a game he seems to have a knack for popping up with a goal.

I had to laugh at the total outrage from the crowd for Paudie’s elaborate dive to the floor with the minimum contact and the round of applause that Joe Wright got for the exact same thing.

Jack Shepherd eat your heart out.

I have long thought that we’re rubbish at throw ins. We suddenly seem to be unable to move so as to create at least a semblance of an option for the thrower.

Agree with this. Its a small point but the amount of times we lose possession because we just throw it down the line is stupid. Other teams just walk past our players for a simple one two.
