The Goal Difference is worth taking into account.

Arsenal who have played 15 have a +19 GD.

Coventry are on +29 they have played 19 games.

Our situation is +8 after 18 games.

Coventry incredibly have virtually scored twice as many goals as us. They are on 50 and we have scored 26 (mainly in the early games). Arsenal with 3 games less have scored 2 more, so adjusted 7/8 more than City.

Had we even got the Arsenal level of scoring a number of our single point, draws, would have been wins and say with three more wins we would be pulling ahead.

Agree. Which is why GA needs a plan B.

I'd say the way the opposition plays dictates how many goals we score rather than ourselves. Most of our chances seem to come from applying pressure to teams trying to pass the ball from the back. We don't really create much instead relying on the press.

Yes, I too went for a 1-0 win but I was hoping that T. Wright would break his duck ...!!

And yet we sit second in the table (for now at least). 16 points from absolute league 1 safety and its still December.

Bring in 2/3 really decent players in January and who knows what we can do in this pretty average division this season.

For all that GA frequently talks up the quality of players in our squad, I think he knows full well that most of them really are honest toilers and our overall technique levels are pretty low for L1. That’s why he places so much emphasis on running stats, pressing strategies, defending from the front, forcing opposition errors, fast transitions, keeping clean sheets and everyone knowing their respective roles like clockwork. It’s why he’s not phased by our low possession stats and poor pass completion ratio.
We simply don’t have enough technically accomplished players to carve teams open with slick precise passing moves. We’re relying on opposition errors and the occasional flash of individual skill from Bobby, Sarce or Humphrys.

Unless we get some really good loans in January then this is how it’s going to be for the rest of the season. TBH, GA is working miracles getting us and keeping us where we currently are with the resources at his disposal.

Well I was asked by @DimitriPayet@DimitriPayet what I see in him, as I said just do your own research if you don’t watch him.

He’ll play next game as GA is a professional and understands football.

Agree. We need to have a Plan B (and C + D). We are too predictable, the opposition have by and large, now nullified our attacking approach.

The positive is that our defence is relatively robust, and we have absorbed what has been thrown at us, with a decent amount of luck getting a notable assist!

I wonder how much is original writing and how much is scraped from other reports. This article repeats the error in the BBC match report that Aden Baldwin is our captain. Anyone at the match or really familiar with City would know it is Max Power.

Yes, that was a glaring error.
But, tbh, I’m not too bothered where it comes from in general. Most of what I’ve read on there is well written and pretty insightful so far.

Just catching up on the thread.
Two indifferent league performances in two weeks, but somehow we’ve got 6 points and 2 clean sheets.

Good to have Baldwin back, and J Wright is looking solid again. Walker has made important saves in both matches to help us win those games.

Nice to see us grinding out these results. It would be nice to not only win at Vale on Tuesday but put in a much better performance too. I think after all the travelling the team have done recently this may be a banana skin and we come unstuck. GA needs to use the squad wisely. Fingers crossed for 3 points.

Also, did Sarcevic play under Adams?
It mentions him as Adams former midfielder.

Agreed. But the 'performance' is just the cherry on top of the cake. I think many of us are underestimating the opposition and how desperate they are to make things as difficult as possible for us. There are no givens and if we have to win ugly at this stage of the season after brilliantly putting points on the board early, I think it bodes well for what's to come. Some always need to moan about something.

They were without their main striker Tolaj though.
If he had been playing the scoreline could have been very different.
Thank goodness he wasn't - we could do with that lad!

100% . Like him or not we all know Cookie won’t take us forward, the injury and it’s recovery has taken its toll, however I believe he can still do it for someone for sure , maybe us bit part (as it seems) or elsewhere .
Cleverley wont take anyone anywhere as manager imho, he lasted a year at Watford ( don’t they all?) . I’ve seen several of their games and he’s just a stuffed mannequin on the sideline. No passion , nothing . Rank bad management trying to play like Pep if one inherits a team of poor footballers . He needs to be pragmatic or fall by the wayside.
You are spot on , GA knows his players limits and sets them up,accordingly.

Who would have had us in second spot going into December? ….Not one of us! How long will it last is another story.
