The last 3 league games i would say an ok better
2nd half at Bolton but apart from that its bang average :( still i aint gonna get two downbeat we are still collecting points and hopefully we start utting some performances together .............still very worrying that a lot of players seem badly of the pace .............got a result Tuesaday and win Saturday and it sets us up for Xmas

Btw no goals conceded in 3 league games so that one big positive

I think the fear is the defensive side of things. He won't track back Bobby like does, and that will leave us vulnerable to the overload down the left.

It is a poor division. Something I championed when fans were wetting themselves about a relegation battle and how we needed to invest millions to stay up. Utter nonsense.

So, we won yesterday and just like the day after the win last week it just doesn't feel like we did...anyone else...?

I remember the commentator saying that Neufville and Touray had played the most minutes for us this season. Don't know if it's just me but they both seemed to have lost that little bit of pace they seemed to have earlier in the season when trying to get past people.

Opposition have worked out where are pace and creativity are coming from and are marking them out if the game or at least making life difficult for us.

Having Joe Wright and Baldwin back is a huge plus and with Tilt now back in the squad the centre back positions.look good.

So they have. Lost yesterday, after my post.

So, we are now tied with Arsenal and Coventry as having the least losses in the four divisions.

I can’t think of one who would get in our side. Their big centre back was blowing out of his rear after 10 mins and made Byrne look like Vandyke in his pomp. We were poor but they need direction and Cleverley can’t give it , and don’t forget they have Fester now looking over his shoulder!

Yes I think its more a case of other teams having worked us out, hence our goals and chances having dried up.
On the flip side, we do seem to be less open, hence the number of recent clean sheets.
GA mentioned that no team can grind out results better than us and tbh that's down to him. In that fantastic run of results last season, there were a fair few turgid 1-0 wins.
Given we are not creating much at the minute, we are reliant on keeping things tight at the back in order to continue to accumulate points. It's why we are still up there despite a noticeable drop off in form.

Keep them 3 fit, and Pennington pushing, we do have a no frills decent unit there. Its keeping them fit thats the issue.

Goals win games, clean sheets win titles. We seem to be doing one or the other. Not both!

Ultimately its all about a win and whether its 4-3 or 1-0, its still 3pts.

I 100% think we need another CM now. And another AM to take the load offf Bobby and Sarc. Im not too concerned about a CF if I am honest, as I dont think there will be much available to improve us in Janaury. Id take a stab in the dark loan if Kavanagh goes.

    Not for me.
Of course I’d like us to be carving teams apart like we did in August, but I think those days have gone unless we get serious attacking/creative upgrades in January, which I doubt will happen.
We are grinding out results; winning ugly; being really hard to beat. Now that teams have wised up to our tactics, I think that’s the way it’s going to be. The question is, can we keep doing it?

Yesterday’s game - a long trip to a bottom team in poor form - is exactly the kind of game that we have blown time after time in recent years. But we didn’t blow it; we won, and that’s what matters most.

We are punching above our weight as newbies with a lower half budget. It’s going to be mostly scraps and, so far, we’re winning or not losing most of those scraps. So I’m happy today. Especially as I predicted 0-1 - Sarcevic :)

I was reading a few comments on their forum which I think alluded to their problems. They've come down a division thinking they can just go back up playing a championship style of football but haven't got the players at their disposal to do it. Last 20 minutes they need a goal and they're trying to pass out from the back like Man City when it's clear their players have little to no confidence trying to play that way. That's piss poor coaching and shows a poorly thought out transfer system, if they'd watched us they should know what we struggle against and it isn't the patient build up from the back. To be honest we weren't much better but have a game plan that works for us, Alexander alluded to it in the post match interview where his main stipulation for his striker is to be able to run 12k a match, almost that goals are of secondary importance as long as they are being scored elsewhere which doesn't bode well for Andy Cook.
It's why you have to stick with what works, Cleverly has played and managed at a higher level but without the right tools at your disposal that system simply won't work. It's a reason I need to temper my expectations of what our squad is capable of and understand that scrapping and battling for points is what we as a team do better than anything else.
