Yes. I'd start Halliday against Vale. I think his 'up and at em style' defending will be what's needed in a match which will be a simple war of attrition.

 

Decent away following considering it’s our furthest game, it was rearranged for a time when trains couldn’t be utilised on the day and there was a planned strike until the last minute.

 

Oh and to GA, Halliday did a fantastic piece of defending on the 90th minute. That’s why he plays over Lapslie in his position. No more nonsense like that please.

When we were promoted I was expecting to see a far higher standard of football like the last we were promoted but I'm still waiting to see it to a point where that was basically a standard of football today I watched last season. Great for us as it sees us top two coming toward the end of the year, not sure the push from the teams I expected to press will ever materialise.

 

Note that Humphry's created that goal by doing what he's supposed to do as a mobile forward.

We’ve become one of those annoying teams that are often horrible to watch but really hard to beat. If we can’t play teams off the park - which we clearly can’t with this squad - then I’ll take it.

Woeful first half, much improved second. Two wins on the spin in the league despite then both being two of our flatter performances. All we are missing is form in the top half of the pitch.

Dunno what has happened to Neufville, he looks like a complete other player from the first few months of the season. Shock horror that Humphrys best play came from an inside left position cutting inside, it's almost like he naturally should play out there.....

 

I still expect Cardiff, Bolton and Stockport to end up above us. Our local rivals, simply have the wrong manager - but I think in weird act of loyalty when you consider how they treated Duff, they'll stick with him until it's too late.

However, you have a point - if you remember, I always said we would be better suited to L1 and playing more teams who play a more open style, but I didn't expect 2nd in mid-December!!

 

Agreed. But he doesn't have to defined to start there. His role, always him to wander anywhere across the front line and I think he's better for it.

 

I didn't realise we had a midweek game away at Port Vale, no reason why we cant get a positive result there.

 

TBF, Argyle will be spitting feathers at the ref. Disallowed their goal for something and nothing and then awarded us the softest of soft penalties.
We’d be fuming if it was us on the end of those decisions.

To improve the squad we need a more creative midfielder to play alongside Power and a decent striker.
