I'll bet any neutral observer will say it's a blatant red. I might test it out...

Same old conundrum where we seem to play on the deck, better football when our star man’s not there. Wycombe in the pizza cup was the best attacking performance I’ve seen us give in years, just no Cooky on the end of any of it. Is it as simple as we just try get the ball to cook as quick as possible when he’s playing, usually by launching it from the back, and it hinders our play?

I think Crewe had a number of plyers who were serial foulers today and yet we seemed to get the brunt of the bookings.
And what the hell has happened to the directive against players surrounding the ref, whatever the rights and wrongs of Pattison red that was totally out of order.

Ref was dodgy but I did note he at least seemed to engage with the players, like Hunty at the end

The red was for an "aggressive challenge" they have said, not for kicking the ball as we believed from the commentary. Watching it back, it's obvious Pattison makes no connection with the ball as Smallwood had the ball at his feet the entire time.

I reckon Pattison has assumed it's going to be a 50/50 but by the time he's lashed out, Bogle down, Smallwood has the ball, and any contact he makes with Bogle is overblown and the Crewe players did their best to tell the ref it was reckless. I think it's maybe stupidity more than reckless play from Pattison. Whatever contact he makes is minimal and the Crewe lot made it 100% worse.

For sure, let me know - will be interesting!

First question to ask after showing them the footage is: "Guess who got sent off."

Decent chance they don't even get that right.

I mean, he got the ball hit at him, but you can see why.

Ball was in play, he's moving in after Smallwood and Bogle have gone for a 50-50.

I'm sure it wasn't pleasant for Bogle, but I'm seeing zero intent, zero danger, zero aggression.

    As for "aggressive challenge", LOL!

As we said at the time, the referee was guessing. He had no idea. Ridiculous in this day and age someone can brandish a red without really knowing what happened.

It's obvious the referee has decided Pattison has punted Bogle (rather than the ball) while he's on the ground.

That should be overturned with no issues.

I wonder if they lino had much sway? He was talking to his lino a lot before making a decision. I think it's one of them where if it's for us, it's one you we find so many holes in. If it's against us, 100% we all want a red for a swipe like that.

Looking at the ref, he's given 48 yellows and 3 reds in his last 8 games. There were a few obvious yellows today, more just ill discipline from us, but the ref looked like he was looking for reasons to fly the card out at certain points.

Not read the thread. Just seen the replay - never a red card. EFL should retrospectively send 5 of their players off, and send Bogle off twice for being such a play acting kangaroo.

That card had better be rescinded.

What’s for sure is we actually looked way more likely to score throughout today’s game than we have done in many, many games, when we’ve mostly been saved by Cookie.

So this one is down to the manager. What he simply cannot allow is we go back to turgid football we’ve seen before today.

Can't get optimistic drawing against Crewe.

Just 6 wins from our opening 18 league games and lingering in 11th.
No wins in our last 6.

    Terribly poor

Swindon at home is simply must win, no excuses

I disagree. I think Pattison knows exactly what he's doing, he's got a bit of devilment about him. I don't think play being stopped (I.e for a free kick) matters in terms of the law - I think an obvious move to injure a player, for example by deliberately leathering the ball at someone's head from a foot away, is classed as violent conduct.

I think he knew what he was doing and was fuelled by adrenaline after getting a goal. Completely needless

Give over, I see worse incidents in the under 9s up at Queensbury Celtic every week and they all just get on with it.

The ref card is given purely because of the play acting and complete over reaction, exactly the same reasons as the week before at Morecambe.

At this stage, the table doesn't lie. We're a bang average mid table side, despite having the leagues top goalscorer.

Then simply play it on the floor and actually create chsnces for our forward im sure he would be more than happy to play that way not the long ball guff that normally results in nothing .............

Certainly an improved performance but not one I'm getting carried away with. The longer the season goes on, the more I'm convinced we are just mid table fodder. We struggle to score more than 1 in a game, and whilst we don't concede lots, we rarely keep a clean sheet. We may with a bit of luck flirt with 7th, but equally we could end up bottom half.
I don't want to be doom and gloom after what was certainly a more spirited display, but for every one of these I feel there's another Barrow or Morecambe no show around the corner.

With whats coming after that its a deffo must win but then again we win that and thenwhat do we really think we are anywhere near a team that will finish in the top 7 ?????

We simply look like s side that in all honesty is probably in the right posistion
