The minute he booted it at their player from 1 yard away I knew it was a red. Standard red card. You can't honestly have been even remotely surprised.

 

Had it stopped? I thought the ball was still live when Pattison went in for it?

 

Soft as shit is football these days. Yellow the most for something like that.

 

Never a red- in real time

The play hadn’t stopped though, in real time there’s next to no time between their player hitting the deck and Pattison kicking it.

 

Kicking the ball away has always been a yellow card if it delays the restart of play.
The referee doesn't have to say he intended to kick the ball into his face, he just has to say the ball was kicked into a player in a dangerous manner.

 

Clearly he was attempting a cross field pass. Completely accidental.

 

Didn't look intentional to me, Bogle rolled into it.

Yellow at worst.

But it's the guessing that gets me. Total guess.

 

Big effort needed by the lads to lose this after such a stupid reaction from Pattison would be criminal.

 

Clear red card and a moronic thing to do. Completely unnecessary.

I genuinely never knew that was considered violent conduct so if that’s the case, then ok. But I’d still question how the ref figures he deliberately kicked it at Bogle when they all fell so quickly.

 

It's just silly. Nonsense decision.

 

I' missed the incident so my comment was made on watching the build up to the ref making the call.

 

We can still win this.

 

You won't admit it but you know as well as I do that you'd be demanding a red if it was one of our players on the receiving end.

 

It's been violent conduct for a few years now intentionally kicking at an opponent.

When the ref blows, Bogle is on the ground and Pattison still has a few steps to make, maybe 5 yards from Smallwood and Bogle? Before connecting with the ball that was next to Bogle. Theres no pass on, there's no simple ball. It's just a brain fart moment.

 

Aee you suggesting the answer is try to injure Bogle?

 

The referee was waiting for things to calm down and watching the pushing to make sure he doesn't miss anything. In situations like that the priority for a referee is to observe until the players stop then take disciplinary action once the pushing has stopped.

 

Definitely wouldn't.

Red cards are for violent or dangerous play.

That's neither violent or dangerous.
