    Ground's been frozen solid for days in the shade in the Vale of York. (-9C at lowest.) It rained for a few minutes onto frozen ground before an inch of snow. The snow's gone but there are odd patches of fine slush and black ice that are very hard to see. It's fine walking about until it's not. It's probably been thawing 3 or 4 hours here and odd spots are still lethal.

    I am to the west of VP it is gusting to gale force, totally grey and dark, the rain isn’t overly heavy and the snow has melted off the pavements (it has been here since Monday). We tend to get the weather about an hour earlier than in Bradford. It would be in the balance here.
