What role is Oliver actually playing?

A side with at least a third of the squad , predominantly first choice players, cannot hope to be challenging for a top 6.

Why not just cut our losses and pay off Oliver?

 

Missed the first 10 minutes but it's kinda drifted to half time with no real purpose. A game where neither team seems to have much enthusiasm.

 

I think he was hoping the size of Cook and Oliver would bully their inexperienced backline but it hasn't worked.

We seem to have fallen into this pattern of whatever first half plan we had not actually working and then trying to find a way to rescue it in the second half.

Maybe GA is just trying to be too clever. Keep things simple.

Richards has had a good game. Kavanagh is still useless. Cook has been poor but keeps winning headers on corners, and if Fleetwood doesn't sort that out, he will score. Smallwood and Walker don't work together. Oliver is pure dogmuck and should be playing Sunday League

 

Absolutely shocking - no threat whatsoever to the Fleetwood goal. What role does Oliver have here?
And this is a team that hasn't won in seven and is a patched up team.

Peter Taylor 2.0. How come teams like MK Dons, Fleetwood etc can all play football on the floor but we need to rely on 1980s football? It's the same with every manager we have

Absolute garbage. GA out

 

GA team selections get more and more bizarre. I know we have injuries and suspensions, but just play players in their normal positions and don't ever pick Oliver again, he would struggle to get a game at Thackley.

 

Problem with that is I dont think Alexander is a particularly clever manager, always best when he keeps to his tried and tested systems.
Tinkerman he is not!

 

Fleetwood look woeful and somehow we look even worse.

GA has got this all wrong. Oliver shouldn’t be anywhere near the starting XI and Kavanagh and Pointon both showing that they are playing out of position.

We have other options up front, in midfield and at CB so all these weird decisions seem avoidable.

 

The positive is only 1 down after that opening 20 mins or so. But we have to start playing with some kind of urgency and hopefully we can nick something.

 

Why do we always seem to struggle against teams missing plenty of players?
