Yep, Pointon was sensational first half on the left too, two pass of the season contenders easily.

Hopefully Cook ok cos he looked to be struggling in that last 15 minutes. Real issues if he has any sort of injury

    Agreed.

And we're not a million miles away, we just aren't quite there.

You post so much sense mate, todays defeat was down to very poor team selection, and Alexander has got to hold his hands up, in the last game and a half Richards has shown not merely is he more reliable defensively but he can take a defender on and cross a quality ball.

Second best today, Molyneaux was excellent.

Smith is awful. Wright below par again, devoid of confidence. Defence is slow, struggled with direct runners such as Molyneaux and Hirst.

Alexander has certain players he treats like crap.

It's the less experienced lads. Pointon at times, Richards, Sanderson, he obviously finds it easier to mess them around.

Wright has been poor all season and will never be a wingback
3 times in first half they broke from half way and where was Wright? Still mincing about up top
His attacking play is awful. Acres of space and dire distribution.
Richards made 3 brilliant crosses that strikers dream of.
Poor decision to have Wright in this team.

It looked a bit of quality play on the break and as you say laid on a plate for their best player with regards Doncaster, we were warned previously by a Doncaster fan they play on the counter, they had numerous chances first half when they broke us down and should have done better once in the first half they had a 4 on 1.
Sorry I can't agree with your Smith comment and unless we have a major injury problems I personally don't see him getting another start.
We don't know what goes on behind the scenes but most though we'd found Cooks strike partner in Sanderson and after reading the article the other day with regards him offering more off the ball I honestly thought Sanderson would have been reintroduced along side Cook but obviously there's more to it than meets the eye, but if we are going to be a serious player with regards promotion then Alexander has to sort Cooks strike partner out.
Oliver won his share of headers when hew came on but why did he chose to head the ball back across goal instead of going for goal that's the difference between a player like Cook who would automatically go for goal rather than try and make a chance for a fellow team mate.
Dare Alexander try Cook and Oliver together with Richards, Halliday, Benn, Walker, Pointon putting crosses in.

It wasn't a great shot but Walker effectively dived out of the way. I think he guessed and was expecting it to go across but it was pretty much straight at him

Yet for some bizzare reason he continues to play him simply based on what ???? That he will magically start playing when his contract is nearly up ????

And that my friends is why we will always be a nothing league two team. Time and time again we lack the balls or ability to win games that really matter.

I'm sick of been built up all week, for a vital game and have to sit at 5pm on a Saturday and watch visiting fans having the time of their life.

The tactical switch, pointon and walker at half time was a masterstroke. He went away from that at half time v Cheltenham because it wasn't working and he goes back to it at half time today. It just nullified them both.

We were so poor discipline wise today over committing and get caught on the break with alarming frequency and then when chasing back committing four bodies to one man and leaving another with twenty yards space. It happened countless times first half and didn't change in the second.

As an aside, I think some are being a little too critical of smith. I think he showed way more than kavannagh has been and actually linked play really well at times.

In fairness Jay Benn was also incredibly slow at getting back and many time just lightly jogged back instead of putting in the hard yards.

Just before their first goal they broke from their box where Benn was alongside their 21 and 3 passes later 21 nearly gets in a shot and Benn hadn't even broke the half way line. 100% effort should be the bare minimum and I feel like a few were coasting a little today and probably need it pointing out on Monday because we've shown time and again that if we aren't on it, we're very easily beatable.

What is the obsession of waiting till the 70th minute to make changes ???????
He should hsve reacted more or less after the first goal not when they have gone and got a 2nd :(
I know they looked ok today Doncaster but if thats the benchmark of going up then it shows how poor this league is.

Can't disagree especially after the last game and a half Richards has played the lad has been more effective both defensively and in attack, Alexzander needs to take a serious look at what Wright offers when not going forward, I'd suggest little, we'd once again started to look a decent side at Valley Parade but Doncaster showed you don't need to dominate possession to win games, a bit steadier with their finishing and it could have been 4/5, as a whole I enjoyed the game and once we scored thought we might snatch another, but as I posted before half time we needed to be doing more off the ball and you have to ask why does it take you to go 2 - 0 down before you make changes, then it was a 7 minutes after going 2 - 0 down, baffling.

It really is a shocking league. Donny will probably be top 3. I think the best we can hope for is the play offs but that's more to do with the overall standard of the league as we are mediocre

They say a keeper shouldn't get beat on his near post but I though having got all the time in the world to find his spot he would have gone back across Walker, still to see it from the camera angle.

Very disappointed today, not so much with the result as Donny deserved it, but with the huge limitations to our attacking play as well as tactical and selection choices. It's incomprehensible to me how Richards was dropped in favour of Wright as was shown when the change was made. And why does he keep switching Pointon and Walker when anyone can see they were far more effective as they started today (and finished at Cheltenham)? Our midfield was comprehensively outplayed today by a side with pace, mobility and invention that we had no answer to. I thought Walker was particularly ineffective, often walking or standing about waiting for something to come his way rather than making himself available. All our attacking play consists of getting it wide and hoping for something to materialise from crosses, most of which are easily dealt with. There's nothing through the middle at all. We had lots of possession today, and completely dominated the second half at Cheltenham, but created next to nothing in terms of genuine chances. For me it's been a depressing week.
