One we need to win today, if we are going to be serious promotion candidates. I remember mid August when some were thinking that we should win our next three games…..we won 1, drew 1, and lost 1. A miserable 4 points.
I worry that Gillingham will try to ‘park the bus’. They already play a 4-2-3-1 formation so a lot of bodies in midfield. We need to get ahead, then their confidence should ebb. Lets have a fast start, let’s see what Kavanagh can do (although I think I Cook will score).

Your Dad will be looking down saying don't be such a daft bugger, get yourself down. I know that what my dad would have thought when he went, a typical Yorkshireman.
Thoughts with you and your family mate.

Condolences to you and family it's a rubbish time
Good for you attending your Dad would be happy, give them a shout from him
When my father passed just 2 days after the birth of his 3rd great grandson we went shopping and bought lots of toys for all three of them (spoilt them rotten) we knew that's what he would have wanted

Really sorry for your loss. I lost my dad back in May after a short battle with cancer. My advice is go out and enjoy yourself, you have to keep your chin up as much as you can.

In real points-per-game terms we're actually 10th/11th, given that Wimbledon, Fleetwood and Crewe have a combined 6 games in hand on us and all are within 2 points of us.

Regardless of whether you look at the table in its current form or in PPG terms, sat in 8th-11th is still bang average. I'm sure the majority of supporters wouldn't have been happy with being outside the play offs with a quarter of the season gone.

Another slightly worrying fact is that all 5 of our wins have been against teams in the bottom half of the league.

That being said, a win today would change that stat and inject some tangible optimism with real substance and form behind it.

If we fail to beat yet another top half side then it really does look bleak for our chances this season.

I'm so sorry to hear that, Idle, I really am.

88 years of support, that's incredible, and it seems a fitting touch that you have decided to attend today. It just shows how deeply ingrained football is in the fabric of our DNA.

Hopefully we get the right result, but I think just going at such an emotional time is an achievement in itself. Best wishes to you and yours. Take care.

Agree with all that, good post.

AFC Wimbledon in particular are in a great spot, but it's interesting how bunched up it is.

I notice Barrow are losing at Accrington.

I haven't looked at every permutation, but we might even be able to go top today lol

So we have two teams that aren't creating many chances and, aside from Cook, aren't scoring much either.

Can Cook be the difference today?

Has a distinct 0-0 or 1-0 feel about it.

These are the kind of games we usually lose when we've managed to get back into contention. It would be nice to win one for a change.

No Benn. Shame as have been loving his crossing ability.

Why has he been dropped? He gets to the line and crosses rather than passing back.
