Not really. He's made 50 career appearances either wide of a front man or just behind and last season had his best run of goals not playing as a centre forward.

Happyto trust GA to set the team up correctly but to suggest that Humphrys can't play there is a bit of a nonsense.

 

Big big game for Humphreys today if he plays the no.9 role. Will be up against a defence including Shepherd who we know is good in the air and strong in the tackle. If Humphreys wins his percentage of duels and hopefully scores, then it would really kick start his season.

 

I didn't say he couldn't play there, I'm sure he could do a job - I'm not a "square pegs in round holes" merchant like many on here - I said he won't play there as GA doesn't consider that a his posittion, which is true, and that he's not a left winger (or left attacking midfielder, in case of pedantry), which is also true

 

Except that he's not "a square peg in a round hole" if played there. That's the bit you've completely made up.

 

I can't see Kavanagh starting and I'm not even sure he will get a place on the bench unless Cook is not risked. You can get away with a pre-planned 45 minutes in the Trophy but I think it would be a risk to do it in the league and I can't see him being ready to play 60+ minutes just yet.

Forgive my confusion. You also literally said that he isn't a winger despite excellent career stats in that role so it's not surprising that I didn't pay the post enough attention.

 

He isn't a left winger and he's played less than 5% of his career there

 

9 goals in 14 games and 14 goals in 32 from the other wing. I think we'd all be happy with that return regardless of what you think he is or isn't.

That's fair enough - I should have stuck to one point as it's diluted the main point that he won't play the Pointon role as GA doesn't see him there.

 

T Wright is probably favourite I'd say with Touray back at LWB or we may even see Richards there if we're still massively struggling with CB options.

Id keep Touray where he is though, stick with Wright at wing back and gamble on the law of the ex with Humphrys having some fire in his belly against his old club even if that meant going two up top (although I'd just keep the same formation).

 

Lincoln really should be at least 1 up, they've missed 2 big chances. A very physical game with most chances coming from long balls or long throws. Like us you can see both teams aren't interested in having much possession, Lincoln having slightly more of the ball and pressure but look unsure when they are passing it around the back.
