Only able to watch it on BantamsTV but I'm up at 5am the next day for work, so debating just sacking it and having an early night.

Wouldnt nornally go to a midweek game, especially with an 8 pm KO and early start for work on Tuesday. I am very disillusioned with the club atm too. However it’s my brother’s bday so we’ve called a curry and gonna actually go to the game rather than watching on TV - the late KO helps!

I hope the football is less messy than my boxers will be by HT.

logic suggests we’ll struggle for for some unexplainable reason I think we’re gonna thrash them. 3-1 or 4-1. Even a broken clock is right twice a day etc

I'm going, doesn't really affect me that it's a Monday night

What's annoying is they'll use the inconvenience of a Monday night fixture to show people don't go as much when its on telly.

Just don't put it on a daft day at a daft time!

Currently Newport are 6/1 with Paddy Power or Betfair for the win!
Exceptional odds for a team above us and taking into account our injuries and current form then.....

Just about to post this. I'm assuming they know something we don't because that's an insane price.

Having recently retired no work in the morning so I'll be putting on my thermals and attending this fixture. I can't afford to have the heating on at home anyway.

Every game is on TV if you know how to get it. That's why we ended up with sub 8000 crowds towards the back end of last season.

The televised matches absolutely kill crowds lower down the pyramid and every football club chairman at this level and below will tell you the same, regardless of your belief.

If every game is available, they are already effectively on TV and there's no valid reason to pretend they're not.

So let's stop pretending and televise then properly. The cat is out the bag, no use hand wringing about it.

Thats amazing odds to say they've won two on the spin and we have 1 league win in 6 games.

I'm staying home tonight, mainly because I just cant be arsed watching our boring brand of football in person when it's getting colder outside, when I could be on my sofa with a cuppa. Cant wait for them to announce 16,000+ fans in attendance when over half the ground is empty.

    This kinda needs to stop.

The attendance implies attending, not just 'owning a ticket', lol, but this is way above City, right?

Maybe the Supporter's Board could ask at the next monthly meeting with the club, if they will release actual attendance figures. I don't expect for one minute the club would agree but the excuse might be amusing. I imagine it will be that every other club uses the same basis, which is probably true.

It's due to policing isn't it? They have to announce the official tickets sold, rather than the number through the turnstiles. Unless it's changed since about 2016/17ish when it was asked before, they club don't get the actual attendance number until a day or two after the game.

RE the odds its because of xG. I know some on here laugh but xG has driven recruitment and player performance analysis by elite clubs for years (along with other stat stuff) and its what bookmakers use in their pricing models these days.

Newport are ninth in league but on xG they’re massively flattered by that placing.

They have the worst xGF (only team in league less than a goal per game) and worst xGA in the league to boot, by far.

they are due a right spanking soon.

city are mediocre, we know. Our stats are average. So we might not be the team to exploit them, but that is why Newport’s odds are so high and seem daft.

Theyre 4 wins from five at home but 1 from 4 away, too.

On the "Matchday Guide" on the official website, it states Manchester Road is shut. Anyone got any further info on this as that is my usual route. Although on live maps it is currently showing as no delays. However, the bullet points at the top of the article also states that "robot dog" will be making an appearance. WTF? What even is that about??

Good to see the club have got their priorities straight for this match.... : unamused:

Edit: Robot dog will make an appearance at half time on the pitch. Perfect timing for everyone around the world watching on Sky Sports to see how bloody tinpot we actually are

No, it's the EFL who prefer to maximise published attendances for marketing purposes. The EFL like to use the phrase 'official attendance' across all 3 divisions. It becomes noticeable for clubs such as ours and several Championship clubs where there is a significant proportion of the supporter base with a season ticket.

Thanks. As I said I just look at live maps on Google. If the road isn't shut now and there's nothing planned to shut, then there's little chance it'll be closed this evening? Maybe it is just a typo by the website admin!
