I'm not defending the quality of the crosses but Wright in particular hit some low crosses in. Our strikers never attack the near post. Surely Kav or Smith should be making that run.

 

No it’s not he’s out of form and he gets beaten at the back post with crosses far too often and you want him as a centre back…Really?

 

I agree , but generally our crosses were no way as effective as theirs were.

Mind you it helps with a Kevin Francis clone up front?

 

Didn't notice this on the scoreboard last night. I assume it's in reference to our two most recent signings.

Diabate is a bit of a daydreamer, has a spell in every game where he seems to lose his focus for a short time - but thankfully always seems to recover!

 

We are just getting over COVID. We have an appointment tomorrow for the flu jab. Not sure we should go ahead with it just yet.

 

I would. I need to avoid flu at all costs. A couple of days rest at home is worth avoiding a bout of it. The last time I had flu properly it floored me for weeks

GA covered it in the post match interview - just felt he wasn’t needed last night but would play his part in the next few weeks.

 

Much better performance than recent weeks (not saying much). The intensity was much better and we used the long diagonal to the wingbacks effectively (Byrne was very accurate with his distribution most of the night).

Agree with the comments that we could have been more precise with the crossing but after recent weeks it was good to see us attacking with width and getting balls into the box.

I would like to see us mix up our play a bit. I mentioned a week or two back about this and once again there were a few occasions where the Kav made a good run in behind and instead of trying to play him through we just shifted it wide and crossed it in. It gets pretty predictable if that’s all we ever do.

Just to stir up the unwashed…He’s probably amongst the most consistently improved players so far, his footballing brain covers for his lost pace compared to when he was younger. There’s no denying he’s protected the shaker back 2/3 recently really well.

 

I have a nephew, lives bang in the middle of Florida, place called Celebration, let us all know when it's hopefully passed you by ....
