Definitely credit GA for the changes soon as they equalised, he went for it and it paid off. Proves the guy can actually conjure up a Plan B sometimes, something previous managers have completely struggled with

In his interview Walker said he had been talking with Bobby about pulling the ball back, but anyone else think Pointon's pass for the goal was actually meant for Cookie but he put it behind him?

That seems to be it with him, moments of "wow he looks on it today" followed by more where he looks like he'd struggle in a semi pro side.

Even on his career before City, there is nothing to suggest he was worthy of such a contract. That summer just had some weird deals.

I didn't see the interview, but from what I was told it wasn't very inspiring.
If we don't go up this year or next then definitely the year after, wow.

The two headers he went for that just dropped and hit him in the face had me thinking it wasn't even Odour and a doppelganger had somehow managed to get on the pitch instead. They were such amateur moments it was laughable.

On the contrary, imo the goal had been coming for 20 minutes and GA should have changed it sooner to try and turn the tide before the equaliser rather than sitting on his hands and waiting for the inevitable.

How was Cook poor apart from his goal? Because he couldn't get on the end of some of the crosses into the box that went sailing over his head? How is that his fault when even Hudlin would have struggled to reach them? He also cleared the ball away at the other end on three occasions when Newport had corners or free kicks. If last night was him playing poorly I hope he carries it forward into Saturday. If he ends up playing well then that will be an added bonus.

Pretty sure in his post match interview GA said he just wanted different options on the bench. I did say earleir in this thread that I would rather play our own players ahead of loanees wherever possible, but how Sanderson doesn't get in above Kav is beyond me.

You ain't for real fordy. Cook poor?? If I have said it once I have said it a million times - we would be absolutely screwed without Cook up front, not forgetting the defensive side of his game too. Second to none

And regarding his goal yesterday, I may be biased but I doubt you will see a better headed goal for the rest of this season, in any league. Sheer perfection, everything about it

I think he was about to change it before the goal, the subs were warming up. If he'd changed things any sooner and then conceded an equaliser, some of our fans would've been calling for his head. They guy can't win

Newport changed shape at half time, they went flat back 4 and 2 up front, as opposed to the 3 CB's and Larry long up front on his own, as we were running them ragged. I think GA reacted perfectly and it actually paid off for a change. Would we have been as effective had they not equalised? I doubt it. Unfortunately conceding first is a regular trait of ours this season and he needs to beat that mentality out of the players

Watching the replay Cook thought his header was going over the bar.......

Yep my first thought! If it was planned, then its absolute superb vision by Pointon, as he wasn't even looking in Walkers direction! My thinking, is that he just pulled it back into that available space with the view to Cook getting onto it. Fortunately Walker there, and thank fook he didn't do the regular thing of putting his laces through it and instead side footed the ball (with the help of a deflection) into the goal.

They definitely dampen down all the noise.

I mean, it wasn't raucous, but it wasn't flat.

I don't really know why they do it because the crowd is part of the experience, it comes across way better on the radio than it does on Sky. Ah well!

A mention for Richie Smallwood if I may.

Got a lot of stick last season from some fans. Thus season so far I think along with Andy Cook, have been the most consistent performers.

He played really well last night.

To be honest its the first time either jabs have had an effect on me, put if down to old age but it won't stop me attending games, having said that the 3 points certainly help driving home.
