Would like to see GA try Young to partner Cook on Tuesday at Grimsby. Could be an interesting partnership.

 

Wing backs are a relatively new phenomenon they are usually wingers who can do a bit of defending or full backs who like to attack. In Wrights case he isn’t a great defender but I think he is worth it for his pace and attacking.

Im shocked folk even pointing the finger at Kelly. He got back, put his body in the way and almost blocked it.

Begins and ends with ginger Cafu im afraid. He got done and Kelly did his best.

 

What I did like about them (even at Valley Parade) was that they like to keep the ball and actually move it forward rather than the way Hughes had us playing with regards retaining the ball until there was a positive forward pass, they maybe also missed their leading goal scorer from last season in Max Dean who's at Gent.

 

I think the issue with Wright is he's a bit like Oduor and has fancied himself as a forward, not even just a standard winger.

But whatever, we're going to have to see how it plays out, GA has pretty much put all his eggs in one basket on the left hand side and we'll either get exposed or Wright will blossom in his new role.

I, personally, think it's a massive risk and not necessarily worth taking, but I'm not the one that'll get sacked for it lol

 

Kelly had to come across because both Baldwin and Byrne were MIA. It was a good effort and on another day might have blocked it.

 

Managers dont really fear the sack nowadays. Thry get paid regardless and usually find another job.

As soon as the MK Dons player gets into the box no one wanted to tackle him, Kelly was unlucky as the shot went through his legs. The move should have been snuffed out earlier in the phase of play.

As for MK Dons, if they continue to play as they do there will be more games where teams will turn them over. I would go as far to say that if they don’t start being a bit more streetwise then the manager will not have long left. There’s a lot of expectation on the club.

 

It's wasn't convincing

 

No. He was the worst of the three and made a bad decision to lunge in which gave Dennis a shooting chance that Walker did very well to save. As the central defender he needs to communicate more and tell the other two who is picking up the opposition and also pull Smallwood back more to pick up deeper forwards/attacking midfielders.

Thought Baldwin did OK. Let's see how he continues. Some decent link up with Halliday. Kelly did well not to be lunging in as he had done before but his struggles came from Wright being out of position or not tracking runners.

Byrne has the most to improve on for me.

 

Kelly is probably our most consistent remaining centre back. Not amazing on the ball, but plenty good enough at defending.
