Well I got 11 out of 11 on the starting line up - the bench surprised me though.

No Stubbs, Richards, Gilliead or Smith. Young gets a shirt.

 

No Stubbs participation …who knew?

Other than Walker that’s probably my go to 11 with a decent bench for later in the game.

 

Saying this without any agenda but was just thinking how gutting it must be for players to work hard through pre-season and then not even make the bench for the first match.

Let's hope those on the pitch perform well today.

Stubbs is a weird player because he came with much potential and the fans quickly got behind him but overall, he’s just not very good despite as much as we want him to be. I can see why Alexander has left him out

 

Very surprised Odour is on the bench ahead of Gilliead, I can't really see what Odour brings to the bench that we don't already have with Pointon. I wouldn't be surprised if Young is on the bench for PR reasons as much as football reasons to try to calm things down and also send a message to other clubs that he is a player we want so won't go cheap.

 

Yep, Oduor over Gilli is a puzzler.

 

When he joined I thought he was really good for that half a season but since then he's gone downhill and got away with a lot of criticism last season from some because of the credit from the previous season. I would love to know what the clause was in his contract that got him an extra year, without it I'm certain he would've been released in the summer.

 

Nice of people in BD2 to set off fireworks at this time in support of the club! I think…

 

Apart from a bad spell towards the end of Hughes's spell, I can't remember a spell when he was "not very good".

And in fairness, that was a spell where everyone was poor.

He was outstanding when we got him and to the end of that season. Of course he can't dine on that forever, but he was solid enough under GA before his head injury.

In fairness he probably suits a back four.

To be fair, he does shoot. Gilliead doesn't really. Gilliead is more defensive though.

The clause is nearly always in favour of the club. I think, quite rightly, GA saw enough before his head injury - to realise that he's a good CB at this level.

I'm a bit surprised at how 'meh' some fans are now towards him. Let's be honest ever players confidence and form was knocked due to Hughes's chaotic start to last season.
