I agree, his passing was mostly poor and pressing from deeper is gonna wear on his legs. We need an established #8 in there and let Sarce revert to the #10.
Having said that, I hope he proves me wrong today as we don't really have a choice.

 

Humphrys not in the squad

 

Regardless of any speculation you wouldnt expect him to be even if he was 100% staying. Missed Austria and is about 2 or so weeks behind the rest of them.

 

Other than possibly the Burnley match where there are 9 subs I don't see Humphrys in a squad any time soon unless there are any injuries. He's behind on match fitness from pre-season and without that it's hard to see who he gets ahead of in the squad with Swan doing well in pre-season and getting a goal last week. His best hope is probably Powell getting an injury.

Out of the 18 places in the squad there are probably 6 places available to him (front 3 in the starting 11 and the places on the bench), at the moment I think most would agree he's 7th on the list. A lack of pre-season has made a tough job for him even harder. Going into pre-season he was probably fighting with Swan and Powell for the last 2 of the 6 spots, both have gone clear of him by having good pre-seasons along with Swan showing potential in the no 10 role.

 

He won't be at GA's expected levels of fitness until September. May not start until October. Said it weeks ago.

 

We have a very slow back line and midfield 2 , expecting wright and neaville to be doing a lot of running back to help out ,any team that has a lot of pace will worry us a lot ,

 

Tyreik injured.

This is where we see that although we need a new CM we badly need more pace in the wing backs. Not sure the Touray/Swan combo is going to cut it.

 

The team looks weak but the best we have at moment.. Midfield especially

 

Midfield and WB cover looks so iffy. The drop off in pace and intent when you have to switch from Tyreik to Touray is huge. Ty has an unfortunate knack of picking up random knocks the last few seasons.

 

Is he injured,or is he off ,all sorts can happen in the next two weeks.

It makes it easy for the opposition unfortunately.

Double up on Neufville as you know Swan/Touray won't take on their right back.

Sit deep and defend.

 

At least the bench looks strong!

 

I would have moved Neufville to the left,and brought in Lapslie at right wing back.Luckily,it was not my decision to make.

 

Think I'd have gone Neufville LWB, Jackson RWB, Phillips RAM. Always prefer an attacking 11 at home.

 

Well I've totally tuned out for 3 months for various reasons and come back to an absent midfield. WTF.

 

Touray at CB is fine, but he’s woeful at wing back. Hopefully, during the summer he has worked on this position or we are very light should Tyreik be injured

 

There's some brave name and number combos.... but there's a bloke in lower D block of the kop with Sarcevic 10 on the back of the keepers shirt....
