Something you are highly unlikely to see at a City match!

Who can work out the significance of this picture?

They were losing against MK Dons, but although late, the caterers had now arrived to serve hot pies ?

Nice try but how does that specifically tie in with City?

I suggest you are exceptionally unlikely to see a comparable picture.

Well done for spotting the MK Dons bit, but that is a bit of a red herring!

They’re all smiling at a match. City fans haven’t smiled at a match for 9 months.

Possibly, but there is something about the picture, which even if City win on Saturday and at Wimbledon, you are exceptionally unlikely to see!

Wimbledon are owned by Fans Trust , so is the answer, the "owners" sat enjoying the match with the fans?

The guy with the sunglasses is Wael Al-Qadi
    The stadium is Sixfields

And agree, scenes like this very unlikely to be seen at a City game

You are correct! In the centre of the picture is Bristol Rovers President Wael Al-Qadi. I guess the chance of seeing a City owner sitting and then celebrating with us, is probably as likely as winning the Euro Lottery.

He goes to most games apparently, meets his counterparts before and after the match, but generally is seen in the away end during the game.

I think that is the way it should be. I guess what must be the somewhat sterile and gentrified atmosphere of the ‘directors’ area, is not one that I would like.

Personally I don’t do the corporate ‘approach’ to football, it is not my thing.

It's good to see, however you can't blame Rahic in the slightest for not doing it. Wells had to leave at Preston at half time due to abuse, Rahic could be subject to far worse.

I can see that now, but perhaps during the first 18 months of his ownership, when things were progressing reasonably well, then that would have been an opportunity to make a real connection with supporters.

I get the impression that there is a ‘tense’ relationship between Rahic and some of the people who are in and around owners/directors (ambassadors?) area. He could think that was a legacy of relationships with the previous owners.

However sitting and associating with ‘ordinary’ fans, provides a real opportunity to understand things, from the ‘terraces’. I recall that he made a big thing about being a ‘working class’ lad, and believing that made a link between him and the fan base. However if he then distances himself from supporters, it helps to build tensions.

I'd advise Edin not to take up this approach with City fans.

Agree it would be a bad move, as you say the Preston situation was not nice, the lad came to support the team and many of his past team mates and one or two made it quite uncomfortable for the lad and his mate.

As I said earlier, the window of opportunity has been lost. Despite what he may think about his roots and origins, he has crossed the rubicon and entered into corporate life, divorced from the ordinary supporter and that is part of the problem. No matter how much he thinks he is a ‘working class’ lad in a ‘working class’ city, then he has put a distance between himself and ordinary fans. I recall Richmond being seen around VP, especially before matches. Never ever seen Rahic or Rupp.

Fair enough, I thought it was just regarding the here and now and future.

That said with everything that has gone on, off and on the field even if he had have spent time with the fans it wouldn't matter now.
