It should be sold off, It no longer is fit for purpose with poor programming, Poor technical ability and seems to think it has a moral obligation to promote minorities at the expense of fair reporting with no effective outside control, It distorts the market and is a burden on the elderly and poor who struggle to pay the fee while it pays presenters and managers hundreds of thousands and some millions of pounds unnecessary.

At just £0.44p a day it provides fabulous value for money and I have no qualms about paying a TV licence.

If it is that fabulous value for money it should have no problem standing on its own feet instead of leaching from the taxpayer for its supply of money

In what parallel universe is the BBC programming 'poor'.
I'm shaking my head in disbelief that anyone can say that. Even with the competition from Netflix etc, a massive proportion of the quality TV programmes are on BBC. And that's before you include 6 channels of high quality radio in the equation.

An isolated list of the programmes on a single BBC TV channel on a Monday night isn't really a representative list of the BBC's output though, is it? There are several other TV channels plus all the radio - national and local.

The debate though is not really about the content but that its a mandatory subscription. That's wrong however you try and spin it.

Not often. I don't get the Bradford DAB where I live.

Even if I did its not like other commercial radio stations wouldn't pick up the rights.

I doubt anyone would buy it for one specific thing , it is the whole package, the TV shows, the Radio, the online stuff, access to freeview, freesat

Yes, exactly this. It's much bigger than just the obvious TV stuff.

I would undoubtedly subscribe. The idea of a world without Radio 4 makes me shiver.

I'm not confident that it will survive too much longer though. Most Tory MPs would like to defund it and I'm sure they'll get their way eventually. For me, it is one of the great British contributions to the world - a treasured institution like the NHS. If it does eventually lose funding, many of the niche parts won't survive commercially (eg World Service) and Britain's international reputation will take a further tumble down the toilet.

I would, I download a decent number of podcasts, watch some TV, use Freeview, use BBC website a lot, and listen to bits of Radio 5 as well as away matches on Radio Leeds.

Mostly full of repeats or programmes from other broadcasters bought cheap to fill the schedules, The other free to air channels may be as bad but at least we have a choice and are not forced in to paying whether we watch or in most cases not

Just been watching episode 1 of Showtrial on iPlayer. Typically excellent BBC drama, from the makers of Vigil, Line of Duty and Bodyguard - all excellent BBC programmes.

Think the point is with the BBC it is so vast and broad that there is bound to be things people don’t like. but that’s no different to Netflix and the like people are happy to pay the subscription for. The BBC is well worth it in my opinion.
