Further to your post @Offcomedun@Offcomedun looks like the Russian people will get a watered down version of how well (not) the war in the Ukriane is not going.
Russia media preparing nation for ‘bad news' as Putin fails to make promised gains (msn.com)

Russian media has issued content revealing the weakened morale and low success of the Russian military in Ukraine. In a shocking shift of perspective, the usually propaganda-ridden Russian media has declared Putin may only be able to achieve "limited" success in Ukraine as the country's western allies rush to its defence. BBC's Russia Editor Steve Rosenburg reported a drastic shift in Russian media publication and broadcast as the failures of the Russian invasion begin to be exposed to the population.

    Typical western propaganda

Its a piece from the Daily Express,I do believe somewhere along the line the Russian people will have to know its not going to Putin's plan or it would be done and dusted by now the Russians would be in Kyiv , he's under estimated both the Ukrainian army and the support the Western are providing.
They say he's a poorly man rumours of blood cancer etc, he's certainly not been guided well by his military advisors that's for sure.

I don’t watch much of the main TV channels tbh but I do listen to BBC radio, mostly radio 5 and I have no problem with it, I think it is very balanced and tries to be progressive and talk about subjects many don’t want to and would prefer to just go ‘la la la, I don’t like change’. You couldn’t pay me to listen to commercial talk radio though. Like people say, anything can be made to seem biased, if you get entrenched in one viewpoint. I try to keep an open mind, which is why I will at least listen to The Unexplained on Talk Radio from time to time, pretty much all it’s good for. Not once has Howard said the words ‘woke’ or ‘snowflake’, not once ;)

Its well known that they do. Whoever the govt of the time is.

However the BBC do not lie intentionally, most media organisations attempt not to lie as if they are found to do so they can have licenses revoked.

The media have 4 or 5 pillars that they need to negotiate before a story is released.

    1. the owner of the media outlet and his/her political leanings
    2. advertisers, due to their money being what keeps the outlets alive
    3. government, who can provide and revoke licenses
    4. flak, the fallout from the public, lawsuits etc. which can be costly
    5. the enemy, a form of social control i.e. a mechanism to manufacture consent such as anti-muslim, anti-woke, anti-communist back in the day, the war on terror.

Around 90% of media articles or stories will have negotiated all of these factors. Those that cant dont make the light of day.

But essentially its not in the media organisations best interests to lie as it is ultimately too costly. However they can ignore issues, ignore elephant in the room facts or opinions, they are entitled to choose on what they report.

Hence why Brexit is never questioned in the right wing press or BBC as being a factor in the UKs cost of living crisis. Given that France for example has only seen a 4% rise in energy prices vs our 50% and growing.

Oh I'm not saying the war is going to how Putin planned. To be honest I'm not sure what his end objective is or was. But i in will reiterate, do not believe everything that comes from the BBC propaganda machine, it's been bad enough with the last two years of covid and the narratives that come with that, this conflict just carries it on.

No journalist can be truly objective. Not one. By the nature of reporting the subject is engaged and therefore true objectivity is unattainable.

Heres a very interesting video. Both in its subject matter and watching Andrew Marr get flustered and owned by Chomsky.

Funny how when Ukraine were reporting victories it was never off the TV with reports of a falling Rouble, Now it seems the Rouble is at a very high level and Russia are steadily advancing the reports have dried up, Its almost as if the media only reports one side

I see Amnesty have accused Zelenski of war crimes and explains Russia hitting residential areas etc,

Amnesty's report said Ukrainian forces in Kharkiv, Donbas and Mykolaiv had in some cases established bases and operated weapons systems in populated residential areas, including in schools and hospitals, which violated international humanitarian law.

“We have documented a pattern of Ukrainian forces putting civilians at risk and violating the laws of war when they operate in populated areas,” Agnes Callamard, Amnesty International’s Secretary General, said.

I don’t believe much of what I see or hear in the media. But if Russia attacks populated areas, where else are the Ukrainians supposed to put their weapons?

Not in hospitals. Schools and resident blocks of flats. That is a war crime and shows you have little care of your own people

So, you don't think they should have defensive weapons in those locations?

No I'm saying if the Ukrainians position weapons near schools, hospitals or residential building don't be shocked if the Russians bomb those areas to take out those Ukrainian weapons.

If the Russians bombed those specific areas when there were no weapons there then they should be held accountable for War Crimes, but are the Ukrainian weapons stopping the bombing.

unfortunately you don’t know if placing extra defences will stop all attacks until after placing the defences there
