Winning mentality

    Serious question and one that I think warrants its own thread - I firmly believe for the last 7 years we’ve had squads with a poor winning mentality.

    This article just typifies this … my opinion we shouldn’t be a scalp anymore we are equal if not worse than other teams in this league.

    It's the "we go again" crap we see after every defeat.

    I mean what is the shock here? That teams play to try and win and this has caught us by surprise?

    Agreed if I was the club I’d ban that statement from every players mouth what a weak attitude.

    suppose sparks won’t mind he’s literally built season ticket campaigns on that mind set.

    What defines a winning mentality? I guess the obvious example is 2013 squad under Parky but individually most in that squad only won honours while at Bradford. For me the winning mentality is a bit of a myth, most footballers throughout their careers just make up the numbers, it's the manager that dictates success with his approach and tactics, just running harder won't make you a success. A lot of luck involved in success too, right place at the right time springs to mind. It's easy to mistake success for winning mentality.

    What were Spark's words regarding season ticket renewals? "What will be will be" With a mentality like that at the top, is it any wonder such a mentality filters down to the team, etc.

    Totally agree, it's all about the mentality, and we've lacked that for years. We used to have players who gave everything now it's just not there. We lack leaders on the pitch to drive the others forwardAnd it's not just about skills, it's about that winning mentality – wanting to win, not just "play well". Big difference.
