WHY a 4th Official ?

    They add NOTHING to the game.

    I suspect they are just PR people, there to try and 'protect' or deflect any abuse of the Ref ?

    Someone has to do it and have done for as long as I can remember. They might not have been called 4th official but they were always there

    It's to take over from the normally inept prat on the field with a whistle in the case of an injury.
    So then the inept prat on the side of the pitch swaps with the doylum on the pitch who can't run around anymore.

    I know we don’t have them but What is the point in those extra officials they have in European games don’t think I have ever seen them give anything
