    Some more great cover versions:

    The Beatles - Twist & Shout.
    One of the great Lennon vocal performances. It's going some to better the Isley Brothers.

    The Beatles - Money. Another great Lennon vocal. Better than the Motown original by Barrett Strong.

    The Byrds - Mr Tambourine Man. The record that invented folk rock. Knocks Dylan's original into a cocked hat. The 12 string intro riff is a work of genius.

    The Animals - House of the Rising Son. The definitive version of a much older folk song.

    Joe Cocker - With a Little Help from my Friends. The best Beatles cover version ever. Transformative.

    Cream - Crossroads. The Robert Johnson original was a work of genius in its own right. The live version on Wheels of Fire takes it somewhere else entirely.

    Aretha Franklin - Respect. As Otis Redding put it - 'That girl just stole my song'.

    Aretha Franklin - Spanish Harlem. Ben E King's original is excellent. Aretha's is immense.

    Led Zeppelin - Whole Lotta Love. A blatant, uncredited reworking of the Willie Dixon/Muddy Waters song, You Need Love. It's majestic. The iconic riff is the self same notes as the standard blues riff from Hoochie Coochie Man, but with altered timing that transforms it into a total sledgehammer. Scandalous that they didn't credit Dixon for the lyrics though.

    Led Zeppelin - When the Levee Breaks. Another uncredited cover, of Memphis Minnie's original. It's truly epic. The drums, harmonica and slide guitar sound utterly huge.

    The Clash - Police & Thieves. It's not necessarily better than Junior Murvin's excellent original, just different and great in its own right.

    The Clash - I Fought the Law. So much more powerful than the Bobby Fuller Four original.

    Sea Girls are really good but popular with a younger crowd than the other 2....feel like I'm 'down with kids' when I see them live...lol!!!

    Bought a pair of speakers back in '79; rebuilt those same speakers last week into better-than-new condition with parts from one of the guys who originally made them. Then and now, the first song / record played through them was the following: (LP then, CD now...)

    Motorhead - Bad Magic.

    Great album. Knowing that Lemmy was a dying man when he recorded it makes it very poignant.

    Really miss the annual Motörhead gig.
