Edin had every chance to put the present transfer dealing to bed when asked if Grayson would work under the same conditions as Stuart had to and he said yes things would be the same confirmed by Greg. so maybe they need to be open and say they are quite prepared to let the new manager have full control of all football matters as long as its within budget.

Too much has been made of this transfer group.. How the money was spent and the targets they went for has proved to be wrong.. it does not mean the process in how they do the deals was incorrect.

Think you’re underestimating the sheer uselessness of our recruitment policy.

We didn’t just lose out on our own players in the summer, we somehow got out bid on a loan for Jordon Hiwula.

If you think we will recruit mega loan players, you need to recalibrate your expectations. The only players we will sign will be unwanted, cheap as chips, or unknown.

And this is where a greater craft needs to be sought in terms of lower deal sponsorship's. A further number of 'lesser deals' would go a long way to funding our development program - outside of ST sales.
As my earlier posts tried to indicate ........ It makes sense to work smarter, not harder.

IMO the manager requests the player he wants, not a positon for Greg to scout and come back with options. if Grayson does take the job he will want players he has had around him in the past who have the same visions/ aspirations as himself, not a player from a list that Greg has put together.
This method stinks of Edin wanting far more say than just a yes or no to signing the deal off.
I'm prepared to wait another few weeks as that will tell us all if the new man will be given free rein to bring his players in without interference from Edin or Greg.
In fact if Grayson gets the job why would we still need Greg. I'm sure if the club wanted to take some of involvment of the signing off Grayson Edin & James Mason could take the financial side ( salary, bonuses, length of the contract) off transfer dealings and allow Grayson to concentrate on football matters only.

The first bit is no different to Grayson telling a scout to go find a LB for me within this price range.. Now wether Greg is a good scout or not is a different matter but the principle is the same..

Greg is basically a chief scout, every club has one, normally they're brought in on the managers say so, to watch players/positions the manager wants.

The last bit is exactly what happened in the past with Stuart in that they took all that off him to let him control the football side yet you said you don't agree with that so I don't really see your point?

Next season could go one of two ways. Grayson stays, he’s given a top end league one budget to assemble his own squad and freedom to do pretty much as he wishes on the football side of the club, which in turn leads to a promotion push.

Or Grayson leaves due to Edin refusing to take a back seat because he knows football and being given a league two budget. We end up with a dog shit rovers manager who brings in dog shit rovers players which leads to a relegation battle and us slipping back into the cesspit that is league two.

Now I’m fully expecting the latter but preying for the former. Plan for the worst but hope for the best.

I wish it was as simple as that. Take Bury - top end league one budget - brought in good experienced players that had many on here saying why didn't we get those players - result relegation.

Look at the calibre of manager they’ve had though Mick plus were those signings the managers of was it as case of the owner playing football manager. Grayson has a track record of doing the business if given the tools at this level. I know it’s no guarantee as you say but you’d expect Grayson to have us there or thereabouts given a good budget and doing things his way. As others have said, I fear for the worst if Grayson leaves citing the owners refusal to back him. League Two here we come.

They might not have had clubs queuing up for them but they all went to better/higher league clubs, Darby to Bolton may not be playing regular but I would think he's still on better money than he was at Valley Parade, McArdle Scunthorpe who we know made him a better offer, Meredith to Millwall a Championship club.
Then Clarke to Charlton again I would think better money than we paid him, Marshall also Charlton so the same would apply surely ?.
