Bradford lad to the rescue. His dad would be so proud.

Roots record is now 1 win in 17 tests. That is absolutely pathetic. Not taking Broad or Anderson was suicidal!

Broad and Anderson aside, it's the batting that has lost us this series. Pathetic. And it's been like this for a while.

Trott summed it up perfectly yesterday.
For the majority of the recent tests if Root fails to score runs then England struggle.
The other batters have relied on him for far too long and on the few times ge fails they look lost.

It made sense to me to leave Broad and Anderson at home. They are not getting any younger and the strains of all year cricket and touring must take his toll on even the youngest and fittest players.

They will both be back for this summer's test matches.

It was also a chance to look at somebody else too, because sooner or later, these two will be retiring.

The batting department is the biggest concern by a mile.

Since Cook retired, nobody has been able to come in and cement their place as an opener. The top 3 has been a massive issue for too long now and we hardly ever post a decent score putting too much pressure on the bowlers all the time.
