Bantam Talk World Cup 2022 Prediction League

We are back for a special World Cup 2022 Edition of the Bantam Talk Prediction League.

Entry is open to all registered Forum Members and is free to play. Every World Cup 2022 Match we will ask for your match predictions and you will be awarded points based on the accuracy. These scores accumulate over the tournament and whoever has accrued the most points at the end of the season will be crowned champion.

How To Play

Around 24 hours before match kicks off a prediction thread will be posted for that match. On this thread, you just need to post your match prediction in the following format BEFORE kickoff

*NOTE* Unlike the normal Prediction League we need the scorers for BOTH SIDES

For example

 

Point System

Points are awarded as follows

• Correct Result – 2 Points
• Correct Score - 3 Points
• Correct Scorer – 1 Point

Bonus Points. 3 bonus points will be awarded to anyone who makes a perfect prediction. A perfect prediction is a correct result, score and all Scorers correctly predicted

Penalty Points. If you predict either side scoring 6 or more goals you will get a penalty of -1 for each incorrect scorer. This is to prevent abuse by naming all 11 starters as scorers for guaranteed points.

Knockout Round Scoring Amendements
As in the knockouts and matches can go to Extra Time and Penalties we have some amendments to the scoring for these matches.

• Your Result and Score predictions are based on the initial 90 minutes. So we can still predict a draw
• In the event of Extra Time, you can still gain goalscorer points.
  • These will only be worth half a point however
• Goal Scorer points WILL NOT be available in a shoot-out

 

Rules

• Entering via multiple accounts is forbidden. If we catch you using multiple accounts they will all be disqualified
• Only entries made before kick-off will be accepted
• *Only one submission per user will be accepted per match. In the event of multiple submissions, we will use the last submission. If adjusting your entry we still suggest deleting previous submissions
• Don’t use players nicknames, only their surnames (If there are multiple players with the same surname then enter in the format of FirstName.Surname)

 

Prizes

We should hopefully have a couple of prizes, however is dependent on the number taking part. We should have more details on prizes at the end of Day 2

Want to contribute a prize? Any help with prizes would be greatly appreciated. This can be done either as an official business sponsorship, a private sponsorship or on an anonymous basis. If you provide a prize as a business we will include your name and branding in all Prediction League threads and promotion via social media

Know a company who might like to provide a prize? Point them to this thread especially if its a company who provide a product or service that is City related or is likely to be appealing to the City Worldwide fanbase

 

Wrong thread but I can copy it over so you don't need to worry about resubmitting it.

Even without the whole controversy over things like Human rights though it does seem wrong at the moment. As Bruno said after the last United match by having it right before Christmas it means fewer people are off to enjoy it and get engrossed in it, especially kids. I know myself that while luckily most of my work is done from home the next month is usually some of my busiest time, not least so I can get everything out of the way so I can as much as possible take from Christmas and into the new year off so I'm either not going to be paying as much attention as I would normally to the matches or I'm going to have to work more between Christmas and New year. Summer is usually perfect as its a more quite time for work.

It's also ruined the Football season somewhat, we have seen players who clearly have been being more careful in matches not to get injured, and others who have seemingly extended their time out to stay uninjured and we have seen more than normal ruled out with injuries.

Gues with the likes of you as very few league 2 players have been called up it's not had that problem on the football side but having City and a world cup on most likely is a negative for the world cup as you focus on your club whereas I've not got that (Well apart from some friendlies the PL teams have organised for players who arent at the World Cup)

Luckily the fact I play Sorare normally means I'm aware of more players these days anyway as I either own the cards of the players or people in the team they play for so I've seen many of them play either in full matches or highlights but I've had to do that for the free world cup draft game that Sorare are running just to draft my initial 8 players. Must have looked up the stats and in many cases videos of about 75% of the players in the squads at this point (and still can't decided on who to draft lol)

Posting the thread is part of the automation script but I was trying to rush some changes to the whole automation through to try and appease some of the complainers and It caused an error so I couldn't invoke the command to post the thread
